They need another one of these machines to keep up with the rate the current presses are cranking out (maybe that’s why there are hundreds of castings laying around?).
Or
They need another one of these machines for the press they are about to install.
Drone flyover this AM caught the GP area this AM. I think these wading pools are the slots where the GigaPress will sit. I’m pretty sure they fill these depressions with concrete before putting the GP in here.
Joe Tegtmeyer just pointed out that in his flyover today, he can see a 4th 6,100 ton press in there that looks like it's goin g through initial testing. Could this be for the CT front castings? Or is it just another for the Model Y? It could be that they'll have 2 making front castings and 2 making rear castings for the Model Y. For the CT, will they need 4 of the 9k ton presses or 2, (1 front, 1 rear) or will they use one press and just alternate front and rear castings? Options options.
My thoughts are that they'll use a single 6,100 ton press for the front casting of the CT and a single 9 ton press for the rear castings... at first... maybe they'll double the number of presses eventually but if they are only going to run 250,000 a year, they won't need the extra ones.
Joe T.'s recent peak in video clearly shows a 4th. 6000 lb. press being assembled and a much larger foundation area being prepared paralel to the row of Giga presses. Looks to be for the 9 ton press. We'll see soon.
