How the CB over the CT makes sense.

Chasing?
Reality is Beast has more towing power than AWD. Whether it will ever be needed is unknown, but I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Reality is that it is not known nor maybe even needed.

Hence, chasing numbers.

And if you would do a little research, horsepower in an EV and ICE are horses of different colors.
AFAIK, EVs tend to fudge their HP numbers to give an ICE equivalent. The flat torque curve and constant power output just doesn't exist in an ICE and give dramatically better results in an EV at the same HP numbers.

But even in a lowly AWD Cybertruck, I have to be careful not to yank my 3,000 lb. boat up the ramp and out of the water too fast.
I had the boat on and was showing off to a nephew while going to the store. Even a far from max push on the accelerator amazed him, the kid with a brand-new diesel truck. I doubt if his truck had that much acceleration.

I guess. They are both rated to tow the same, but I guess you could accelerate faster with a heavy haul with the CB? Not sure where you would need that power as the AWD has plenty for towing, even in adverse conditions.
Definitely an edge case I hope to never run into, but the major factor of differentiation to me is the torque in terms of max grade one can ascend while towing (major assumption that the tires can even put that to the ground). Additional acceleration at highway speeds on hills is also appreciated.
My point in even mentioning it was that while Beast has more acceleration than needed, the other performance values that accompany it may be more readily utilized. And, looking at it from a horsepower point of view, the upgrade isn't out of line with other trucks (though what that horsepower number means may be valid question).

I chose CT over CB. I’m not usually the person to buy the top of the line. My Mercedes are never AMG my Full size Range Rovers are 6 cylinder, I’m just not that guy.

BUT… here is where paying extra for the CB would have made dollars for me:
- $4k towards PowerShare installation
- Light bar which I know I will buy
- Free Supercharging because my provider isn’t setup for PowerShare yet
- Dash upgrade, which I will likely have done. My CT isn’t a work truck and the dash definitely feels like a work truck.
- Last but not least PLEASURE of seeing people’s face when they first take a ride, that my CT just can’t provide. ?

So the 20k extra really isn’t “20k”
Roger that, my friend.

The $4K PowerShare installation credit wasn't all that. A number of folks got massively marked-up quotes from installers who knew the customer was getting $4K of it for "free", so they rejected the installation and threw away the $4K credit.

Others (like me) still haven't heard anything about being connected to an installer. I ordered my CB in December and took delivery in May. Last communication was from Tesla in January saying that they'd reach out to me once they lined me up with an installer. Yes, I checked spam folder.

If it actually costs, say, $3K to install it, the installer will probably quote me $7K ($3K + $4K). So I'm not in a huge hurry to proceed.
Ordered end of Feb, received CB in June - silence on the Power Share. So I called Qmerit and asked...they said have to wait for Tesla to send notice - and within a week Tesla sent notice, Qmerit contacted me to do their survey with pics, etc, installer now assigned and waiting to hear what my quote is.

I already have a 100amp circuit run to a gen 2 wall charger - asking them to quote replacing with new charger + PowerShare + split my 100amp circuit (since CT maxes at 48amps) into 1 60amp for the new wall charger and one 40 amp to a 14-50 outlet I can use for my elect bikes/moto's...would think it's simple but my secondary breaker panel (one with all the breakers) is on a totally different wall in the garage so if that has to be tied in as well it could get a bit spicy on $'s.
