There's some delusional posts in this thread ... there's no collectability to be had with the CyberTruck ... do you see anyone collecting the first gen Model S?

This is all a big waste of money and a bad financial decision ... get okay with it and enjoy your truck!

There's pros and cons but I've owned a lot of trucks and zero regrets on the CyberTruck so far. It does truck shit better than my Raptor.

Agreed and the 20k in accessories add little to nothing in trade-in value.

Tesla, Carvana, and Carmax all said FSD added $0 in value to my MY that I was looking to trade-in or sell for the CT.

These are 80 and 100k trucks, if non-FS stay true to pricing, that are used so once these are easy to obtain will lose the typical drop in pricing.

But I do love my truck.

I as well am not sure on the Lightning vs CT AWD. I have driven the Lightning, now that I own a CT I see no correlation or anything it does better than the CT for me personally. That's even before getting to what truly matters in the EV world (SW and SC Network).

In these cases, own both and you don't have to worry about it. haha!

Ladies and gentlemen, I feel I triggered some opinions with my collectors item comment. I am talking from experience

I bought a first edition Lexus LC 500 in spring 2017 for $90K, then watched it depreciate then APPRECIATE as demand for it rose, even while new sales volumes increased. Ended up selling it over 4 years later for $70K, defying the car depreciation curve

The Cyberbeast fits a similar profile and consumer behavior. The fact that the FS CB is the first-to-market, highest trim version is what makes it appealing on the used car market. It's more than the badging. It's the rarity of it and the fact that demand will continue to outstrip supply. Mathematically it will take Tesla 10 years to fill all 1.5 million preorders, at its current rate of production

The thing is ... they will only be rare for the next 6 months ... this is like saying my Plaid was rare, it was not and the trade-in value proved it.

Please don't buy a mass produced vehicle expecting some kind of collectors edition. Tesla isn't limiting anything.

... not to mention, they will drive the price down over time like everything else they've made ... the first Model X production vehicle was around $160K iirc.

Tied into the acceleration insanity that is CB is the higher torque/ horsepower numbers for those that feel the need for that. 845HP 10,296 lb-ft vs 600HP 7,435 lb-ft.

F-150 5.2 L Supercharged is 720 HP, next highest is high output EcoBoost 3.5L with 450 HP. With 4.7 first gear and 3.73 rear axle the 510, 640 engine torque becomes 8,940 and 11,220 at the wheels (ignoring losses and torque converter effects).
You are chasing numbers, not reality.

yeah, it has to make sense for sure

MSP - 1.99s
MSLR - 3.1s

MXP - 2.5s
MXLR - 3.8s

M3P - 2.9s
M3LR - 4.2s

MYP - 3.5s
MYLR - 4.8s

Cyberbeast - 2.6s
Cybertruck AWD - 4.1s

There is definitely room for AB in the Cybertruck AWD. At these speeds 0.5s boost is considerable let alone 1s so I say do an AB of 3.6s 0-60MPH for the AWD. That extra second in the Beast will remain dramatic.
Why do you believe that there is room for an acceleration boost in the Cybertruck? It's not as if Tesla just holds back for the fun of it. They didn't do it for the Model 3.

If rare vehicles were known to be rare when they were manufactured, then investors would all buy them, and they wouldn't be rare anymore.

No one knows what a rare, appreciating vehicle will be.
It's often fun to watch Jay Leno's show where he compares the appreciation of rare vehicles.

An original Volkswagen Beetle is becoming quite rare, especially one without a rusted-out floor, has indeed appreciated in price, but it's still only about $30k.

I want a million dollars also. Give it to me and I'll get you the acceleration booth.

(Anyone with a Beast want to join me and make some money off this guy?)

Chasing?
Reality is Beast has more towing power than AWD. Whether it will ever be needed is unknown, but I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I guess. They are both rated to tow the same, but I guess you could accelerate faster with a heavy haul with the CB? Not sure where you would need that power as the AWD has plenty for towing, even in adverse conditions.

The Lightning is like floating on a cloud. It had a bit more bounce, it didn't have the rough and jarring feel of the CT hitting a bump.

If you have sport suspension, then you should be more sporty. Beast fits that bill, so it makes sense to me to lose the cloud and gain the speed. AWD is slower and rougher than Lightning, it just doesn't make sense.
“Rough and jarring”?! I did the official test drive last week and he had me take a serious speed bump at 50 mph and it was like it wasn’t even there!

I'll add my 2 cents:
  1. AWD has mechanical lockers on both axles
  2. I have a Plaid X. CB is a different machine and I don't see how I'll ever use the power. On X, it's a different story because that thing flies and you have so much control (and much higher top speed)
  3. On above, I paid 8500 for plaid over regular. Few weeks prior to my date, many paid just 3.5k over. 20k is too much. If it was closer to 10 I'd understand
  4. I'm not aware of anyone getting free supercharging on beast. Correct me if wrong
  5. Similar to my S, prior X, prior 3P, I expect Tesla to provide a bit more from the motors on the AWD in due time
Same here. I have MXP and it only costs 3.5k over regular trim so easy decision. While i love CB, i don’t see much benefit of CB over CT to justify 20k premium.
I have powerwall so no installation credit and free supercharger is no use at all.
