When considering the best trailer for towing by an electric vehicle (EV), you should focus on factors like weight, aerodynamics, and overall efficiency. Lightweight and aerodynamic trailers are ideal to minimize the impact on the EV’s range. Here are a few options known for their suitability with EVs:

1. **Safari Condo Alto Series**:
- **Models like the Alto A2124**: Known for their lightweight and aerodynamic teardrop design.
- Made from aluminum, which reduces weight.
- Retractable roof in some models helps further minimize drag.

2. **Airstream Basecamp**:
- Compact and lightweight.
- Aerodynamic design helps reduce drag.
- Durable and stylish, with modern amenities.

3. **Escapod TOPO2**:
- Lightweight off-road trailer.
- Streamlined design to reduce drag.
- Rugged construction while maintaining a relatively low weight.

4. **Bowlus Road Chief**:
- Very lightweight and highly aerodynamic.
- Luxurious and efficient design.
- Made with aircraft-grade aluminum.

5. **Taxa Outdoors Cricket**:
- Lightweight and designed for efficiency.
- Compact and aerodynamic.
- Suitable for off-grid adventures.

In general, the **Safari Condo Alto Series** is often considered one of the best options due to its exceptional aerodynamics and lightweight construction. The **Airstream Basecamp** is also a strong contender for its compact and aerodynamic design.
......
The Bowlus is just too much. I'm about to rent one for a week to see if I like it. Any thoughts on the Airstream Bambi, Basecamp, or the Safari condo Alto series? More concerned with range than comfort. Airstream obviously holds their value well. Thoughts?

Only Safari condo alto f2114 is 47% more aerodynamic than its own other lineups due to the pointy front.

I tested bambi 20' for 121 miles average 55 mph, the average energy was 674 wh per mile.

Pebble Flow coming year end 2024, former Apple engineers, includes self-propelled motors and NO detriment to EV battery.
No detriment only means the first leg of your trip, after the trailer's battery depletes, it's no use. You can't possibly charge it as fast as you supercharge your CT on a Tesla Supercharger. You would be better off using the CT Range Extender for long term hauling, that at least you can charge it on a Supercharger.

I think the A2124 surpassed everything else in the Alto lineup (aerodynamically) with a profile more like a fractal Bowlus and at a fraction of the price.

I tow a 25’ Airstream International. As between a Basecamp and a Bambi, those are very different setups, as are many of the others on this list. We bought our Airstream 3 years ago and while I love our setup, there are things I would have chosen differently. I would have purchased a larger one. I think it’s like an EV battery, err on the larger side rather than smaller. Of course assuming you have room to store it and you’re not maxing yourself out of budget or camping Site options.

I love the Basecamp, but we have 3 kids and there’s zero chance it would ever work for us. One day when they’re out of the house, maybe. I didn’t like the toilet/shower combo and the bed was a bit short for my liking. But very cool, modernized rugged look.

Here’s info from my recent trip through the mountain passes near Ouray and Telluride:

Thanks for your reply and the excellent write-up of your trip. It's good to see people using their trucks and how it performs.

It's just my wife, 150lbs dog and me and our goal is to get as far away from crowds as possible. Off-grid convenience is more important (to us) than size. Not looking for luxury as that is what hotels, our home or boat is for, but a safe place to sleep and a toilet. So far the Safari condo and the Basecamp are looking good.

I’d be all over that basecamp! Get the X (I think that’s the trim) and it’s lifted.
