They love this stuff over here:

And apparently did not read the first reply, with a video showing how they are meant to be installed so they can always very easily be aligned... I'd be sure to talk to that techs boss...

Haha. Its ok OP. Very easy to take off, adjust correctly. If you want to make it easy to separate the two parts, wear gloves because new ones are a little tight. Once separated, the ring part goes on first. And then the actual cover, you pop the middle in first. When middle of the actual cover is on, you can still rotate it slowly to match it exactly to the tire. Then hit each part of the aero cover "fingers" to pop them in securely.

Obviously, each wheel cover is specific to that tire. So if you want to swap it all around, you have to redo this process. Which is not hard. But if you keep track of which tire it is "set" to. You can remove and put it back and it will be aligned.

Those people are complete idiots. I swear. It's even on the truck's manual which tell you to match the tires. It's crazy how people think this is hard.

What color wrap do you have OP?
Thanks for taking the time to put this together. It's Black Satin.

Miserable people with mental illness over there. Hopefully they get the right help soon. Unfortunately, Hate doesn't treat these illnesses.

Okay this entire thread is silly. I pulled my covers off after they were installed by the tech to put air in my tires. They just pull right off and the “ring” behind came with the top part. Checked my psi in each tire and just snapped them back on - super easy and you can line them up with the tire design easy enough. On all four tires the ring came with the covers.

I did take my ct to Death Valley last weekend and drove on some dirt roads / and I can hear some rocks banging around inside behind the covers. Have not had the time to fix this - but I will pull off each cover to let any small rocks to fall out.

otherwise these covers are no big deal. They are “rubber” so the top edges are flexible and they don’t touch the wheel ? itself or the tire.
They do help your range so I will leave them on.

if not lined up with the tire design / put fingers over the top edge and pull - a child could do this and then snap them back lined up with the tire design. A five minute fix for all four wheels.

I am more annoyed with the whole strike thing with the FSD which flashes a small sentence on the screen to warn you the car believes you’re not paying attention. This is hard to see and forces you to take your view off the road. Makes you paranoid.
These warnings should produce huge letters on the screen and make some noise as well. And ideally the ct needs a heads up display that will let you keep looking at the road ahead.

Just to be funny, sometimes I ask nurses or tech people (that have probably done something 1,000 times) if they have done this before. Maybe a good idea to ask the mobile tech that question seriously!

So I put in a service order to have Tesla Service to bring out and install my wheel covers. The service was quick but when the tech had finished I went out to look at it and the covers don't line up with the tire inlays. The tech said the only way to fix this is to make another service appointment and have them realign the tire on the actual mag itself and then have them put the covers on. I love my truck but I'm not impressed with the look... it looks pretty tacky.

Word of advice, If they want to roll a tech out instead of doing it in the service center, ask politely to have it done there instead. Chances are your tires aren't aligned with the wheel correctly either.

Mongo Replied to this below and set me straight. Basically the tech doesn't know wtf he's talking about or doing.

It takes 5 minutes to remove each hubcap, align, and install. You don't need a service appt for this.

The two pieces stay connected after the first install and they stay together if you pull the wheel cover off- and then you can easily snap it back onto the spokes of the wheel in any orientation you want. Only negative is you need to pull it off to put air in the tire each time. They look okay to me.
