I have a VIN and nothing else. Help!

Just got the VIN for our Cyberbeast and this is our first Tesla.
We don't have any charging apparatus setup in the house and other than the text that we need to complete financing and insurance there isn't anything else.
I don't want to go pick up the truck and have no way to charge it. Has anyone else had an experience like this, how did you handle it?

You will get a mobile charger with the truck…..although you can use 110 volts house current best get 240volt installed (charger comes with both plugs in the kit). 110 volts will take forever to charge the truck.

Just plug it into an outlet... a regular 120v outlet at, say 10 amps will charge about 3 miles per hour. It's not fast but it'll work until you get a 240v wall connector.

I would not hold delivery,you can charge 110v in the mean time.

It’s pretty basic. Either live near a supercharger, have the ability to charge at work, or install a 220v/60 amp circuit for home charging. The latter is highly recommended. Some will argue you don’t need either 220v or 60a but if you’re going to get something installed, you should go with what gives you full at-home charge capability with a Tesla Wall Connector’s 48a charging capability. If you choose to only use your included Tesla Mobile Connector then you could get by with a NEMA 14-50 outlet on a 40amp circuit since it maxes out at 32a charging. And as others have said you can plug it into the standard outlet with an adapter and get by if you only need to drive a few miles per day.

I definitely would NOT hold on delivery!

I just used the mobile connector that came with the truck for a couple weeks until I could get the electrician come and install my wall connector.

Last minute? How long have you have it ordered?

any outlet will do. 12 amps at 110 is about 1.3kwh. So in 10 hours you'll get around 13 kwh into the battery or enough to drive 30-40 miles. Generally people can plug in longer so unless you're doing 100-200 miles a day it shouldn't matter. In that case you can just hit up a Supercharger for 15 mins a day and be fine along with slow home charging.

Last minute? How long have you have it ordered?

We ordered the day of the unveil and configured on 3/9. We've had some good communication with the local SC and they told us a couple weeks ago because we were waiting for a Beast with the grey interior we wouldn't be getting a VIN till later this year. In the app it said Oct-Dec delivery last week.

Then this morning I got a text saying please complete the order, our truck will be at the SC on 7/30 and to pick a delivery times on 8/3.

It's just a little jarring since we don't have anything here to charge beyond the 110 outlet.

Yup, there are a few here. Just feels weird to have to use that option since we paid for the hardware and installation as part of the Beast.

True, but we paid for Tesla to do it as part of the Beast order. I feel like they should provide me details on how they are going to handle it up front instead of us having to install something.

Tell him to buy the necessary material, conduits, THHN 4 wire, 60A breaker, and get started on it. Once you get the voucher order yourself the UWC asap and use the standard charger for the time being as well as superchargers or any chargers in your area until your UWC arrives. The installation is extremely easy he’ll know what to do.
