Mine does the same thing when suns hits the panel directly; it’s not apparent on an overcast day or otherwise indirect light. It’s not something a cleaner will correct on mine; it’ll take sanding.

Watch out. There is a case on this site where a Service center “corrected” the issue and made the whole truck far worse. So, watch out for a potential roller coaster ride. ?

My cybertruck was delivered this way, inconsistency on the SS panel in the rear left, been bugging me more recently, I just keep seeing it as I’m approaching the vehicle since it’s in the drivers side. Passenger side doesn’t seem to have anything like this. I’m assuming I’ll have to actually go through the sanding process to try and create more consistently but is this pretty normal? Think it’s even worth bothering with it?

Here’s what the top of my frunk looked like on delivery day (07/29/24). Just like your side. Unacceptable! So, don’t accept it.

Did you make a service request to correct the frunk lid?
Immediately!

I took delivery last July. I didn’t let them do it though until they had my light bar for installation. So, I reported it immediately to make sure that they were obligated to fix it and then took my time scheduling the appointment.

Had I known what I know now, I would’ve rejected this car in any car that they tried to offer me thereafter that had even the slightest imperfection and been driving around with free FSD right now!

I never have before nor will I ever again take delivery of a car that I don’t think is presentable. We were laboring under the misapprehension back then that if we rejected a CB we wouldn’t see another one for years.

Never again. I’m in no way upset - I got exactly what I bargained for- warts and all. In the future, I’ll bargain better.

Unfortunately Tesla vehicles get kicked out of the assembly plants and all cosmetic corrections are made at the SC’s.

If more buyers rejected vehicles because of poor QC it would send a strong message to leadership.

Looks perfect to me. But if it bothers you, a $6k wrap will quickly fix it.
Haha I like the way you think. I’ll be really honest I’ll probably leave it as is until I’ve got a bunch more scratches and stuff then just go through the sanding process myself with the right tools following Teslas guide as closely as possible, personally I like working on my cars and wouldn’t mind experimenting with the SS just to know my car better, way I see it, it’d just become more of a unique CT that's mine. It’s a special thing to have a truck that’s not so easily destructible.

Having said that, I agree with others here who prefer to have Tesla take responsibility for delivering a flawless vehicle that costs a lotta money, I’d love for Tesla to fix this for me, just a bit hesitant due to being very short on time as well as hating to deal with the back and forth. I think I’m leaning more along the side that sees this vehicle as sort of a one-off super unique thing where every single one is going to be slightly different just due to the fact that we’re working with an unconventional raw material as the actual body of the car. That’s gotta be an extremely difficult thing to keep absolutely identical throughout the entire manufacturing process all the way to delivery.

Absolute daring huge risk on Teslas part imho to even consider bringing this absolute spaceship to reality… at least it’s just how I see it, so it doesn’t bother me as much. I’m just detail oriented when it comes to cleaning and keeping things pristine so I’m curious how I might be able to achieve that with my personal CT. Eh, if one day I actually get around to sanding it and working with the metal a little bit, and then the result comes out awful which I doubt it will, then yeah, I’d just wrap it with a metallic gray or silver, and have absolute consistency, not opposed to wraps at all, but I’m also a bit of a purist when it comes to an original design like the CT.

Interesting to see others thoughts and similar experiences to this as well. If I do go through service, I’ll definitely keep it posted.

Just remember BKF kills chromium and iron while citrisurf77 (just citric acid + distilled water) will kill only iron. So BKF is likely to turn more of a yellow afterward and not guard as well against surface rust in the future.
yes BKF is much more abrasive, just use what Tesla is recommending on their officical docs which is Citrisurf
