Wireless charging sucks in general across the board. Wish they just left those spots as phone holders with a wire pass through to plug in your phone. Not one car or wireless charging device I owned ever worked well. Wired will always be superior. Hope there is or will be a setting to turn it off in the CT.
I've not had a problem charging my Android phone, it doesn't get any warmer than my wireless chargers at home, which is to say it's warm to the touch, but not anywhere near hot. It charges really quickly too.

My iPhone 14 Pro overheats on the Cybertruck wireless chargers regardless of whether it's in its case or not, and regardless of cabin temperature or sunlight. I think I'll block the CT's wireless charger's electromagnetic connection to the phone by separating the phone and charger with a thick pad of foam so I can set my phone on what will then be just a harmless, handy shelf. I'll charge the iPhone with a cable from the center console and wait for a fix from Tesla.

Anyone else think the location of the wireless chargers in the CT is an engineering flaw? In South Florida it’s hard enough to keep a phone cool enough with even with some shade. The location of the chargers bakes the hell out of the phone and charging is consistently stopped from iPhone over heat warnings. Very jacked up design!
I use an iPhone and a Google Pixel. The pixel charges fine. So does the iPhone. But I've always been particular about how I position the phones though I can't explain how that is. My phones don't overheat in the vehicle but in other situations it has done so.

I think Apple is relatively new to wireless charging, when I bought my last phone, a Samsung S8+, Samsung had been wirelessly charging for years and Apple didn't have a single phone that could charge wirelessly.

Wireless standards change and expand over time, and have quite a range of acceptable variances, it's apparent to me that Apple is using something different from what's in my S8.

iPhones have had wireless charging since iPhone 8, and most current is the 15, so they aren't new to it.

We have a MY and MS and our phones charge fine there. It's only the truck that overheats them.

My Mach-E would always overheat my iPhone 12 Pro, I could barely touch the phone it would get so hot. So I bought a TWRAPS aftermarket MagSafe charger pad which just goes over the top of it and now it charges with normal temps. Only thing I can think of is the placement of the phone on the pad wasn't ideal and causing excessive heat. MagSafe ensures that it's aligned properly.

Both my wife and I have Android Galaxy phones. They work fine in a model s no overheating problems at all. But in a cybertruck they definitely get super hot and incidentally they don't charge as fast either. My thoughts are it's a software problem.

Don’t understand; I have a 15 pro max in a case and it works perfectly. I’ll bet my New Orleans sun against your south Florida sun.

if you mean you simply want to disable it 2 years ago, notateslaapp.com posted this: https://www.notateslaapp.com/softwa...o-add-option-to-disable-your-wireless-charger so they might be working on it. However, if you just meant you like it charging it, but you don't want it to get hot, then the answer to that is simply that wireless charging technology isn't the best, and it puts out a lot of the energy as heat. the overheating probably isn't a Tesla problem.

Just want to point out that misalignment of the phone on the charger will cause it to heat up really fast. So what happens is that the phone will say it's charging but you'll find that it's charging slowly which means there's a misalignment and it'll heat up. When you place your phone in the charger, you need to figure out the positioning where it's properly aligned and once you figure it out, you'll instinctively put it in the correct place and it'll always work.

Case in point, I have an Android phone and an iPhone and they both charge just fine in the two chargers in the truck but if I simply drop it in there and it's misaligned by even the slightest, the phone will start heating up and eventually stop charging.

The phone gets hot because it’s not lined up properly. Wireless charging becomes less efficient the worse with the alignment. And that can cause the heat. When driving and it sliding around in that tray can cause a lot of heat. I think the biggest issue is the camera bump on the iPhones.

My S24 actually went into overheat protection. It's not just an Apple thing. I had to resort to using a Magbak charger instead.
