Loose tailgate panel

First of all, I absolutely love my truck. But with that said.

My rear tailgate stainless steel panel seems to be disconnected in the middle. It’s easily pushed in and when I close my tailgate in now makes a much louder noise when the soft close is working.

Is this typical? Anyone else having this issue?

Adhesion issue with the stainless steel panel. What's your VIN/manufacture date? Apparently there was a few different adhesive suppliers Tesla used last year and 1 of them was a bad batch.

My tailgate oil-canned. Tesla service said there was a known adhesive issue with some tailgates and replaced the entire tailgate.

I wonder if they know which VINs this applies to…I bet they do, and wonder if there’s a service bulletin for it.

I didn't get a clue from them on that...just that it was a known issue and there was no hesitation to replace.

Common issue. Ive had mine replaced twice. This is a 2025 model too so it isn’t strictly the early 24s. Make an appointment they’ll change it out. beware tho they scratched my bumper last time and then broke one of the bolts into a stud. So make sure you have good service techs.

My truck's tailgate was replaced recently, now the replacement tailgate is having the same issue.
Making another service appointment for second tailgate replacement.
