Well, the sh*t keeps piling up. Driving around today and I start smelling maple syrup.i didn't have pancakes or French toast so I'm wondering...
I am thinking it is antifreeze so I look it up...
Google says, Yes, Tesla antifreeze (coolant) can smell like maple syrup or have a distinct sweet, sugary odor. This smell is a classic indicator of a coolant leak in both conventional vehicles and electric vehicles like Teslas

Well, the honeymoon is over. I cannot afford to fix this truck every month. I don't know how many other issues are in my future but I bought this truck because they are supposed to be more reliable then an ICE vehicle. I had my S10 for 140,000 mi and I replaced the intake gasket and the shackles on the rear suspension I have my Honda Ridgeline for 106,000 mi and I did nothing except for the timing belt at 105,000. So far the Tesla cost me $2,500 for a computer And I don't know what this next issue is going to cost. It had been the best truck I ever owned, now it's turning into the worst truck I ever owned.

Shouldn’t it be under warranty?

If you are not seeing any leaks, and if there are not any error codes in the service menu, isn’t troubleshooting at this point using your sense of smell maybe a little indeterminative?

If there was low coolant you would have a service alert on your screen.

There is even a service alert for “low windshield wiper fluid.”

I suggest you look deeper into this issue because it might be a non-issue.

I appreciate the encouraging words but the smell is super strong. I will be going to the SC tomorrow to see what is going on but I'm not getting my hopes up.
My only how for a free fix is the computer they replace had a loose clamp or leaky hose. That should be covered.

I’m interested to know what they say. Please tell.

im interested in the outcome of this.

Hopefully just a loose connection from the recent service.
I’ve learned from all the PCS failures to charge at a lower AC amp rate.

I went through the same thing and had mine bought back. I couldn't keep taking it in for service every month. In the 15 months I had my truck, it ALWAYS had a service appointment scheduled for multiple issues. There was never any peace. Something was always wrong. Enough was enough.

Hopefully this is covered and the last issue because I love the truck, whether it is driving itself or I am driving. Going up to the SC as soon as Roadkill is over. Best show on TV even in repeats

The old adage "The pioneers get the arrows" is based in truth. The ups and downs of being an early adopter is not for the faint hearted. Hoping it's a simple fix and warranty coverage. All the best to you.

For the first trip to the SC the guy suggested maybe the smell was coming from outdoors other than the truck and I said Are you saying somebody sprinkled maple syrup on the highway? I think he realize that sounded stupid so we didn't answer but basically he said if it ain't something they did it's not covered in the warranty, which I am well aware of, so I'll go back in a different time.
