And despite assurances they would transfer my VIN before cancelling the original order, they did not. So now I have a new order with no VIN and my original order is gone and I’m told by the local rep it has been reassigned. But they put it a claim ticket to get the VIN back and will keep me posted. ?

That blows. I’m was going to try the same thing. Being retired military it’s nice to get that military appreciation but when you’re waiting for years to get a Cybertruck it’s very dismayed they say you don’t qualify.

keep us posted on what happens

Aww man that sucks. See if it were me I would have let the discount go if it meant loosing my step in line or order. I realize they told you they would transfer the VIN to the new order, but unless it was in writing, assurances with logistics and deliveries are certainly uncertain within the FS order minutia.

I'm waiting for the retired Alaskan Commercial Fisherman discount before I buy another Cybertruck. You know what I'm talking about, for all the people who decided to risk their lives to bring fresh seafood to the people! Statistically speaking, an Alaskan commercial fisher has a death rate 20 times higher, compared to the overall U.S. occupational death rate. Active military members have a lower death rate than the general population. And I don't get free dental, vision, medical or even a pension! If I could get $1000 off our next Cybertruck, that would pay for 12 days of our private health insurance (medical insurance that doesn't cover nearly as much as a retired military plan does).

Come on Tesla, what's wrong with you guys, why do you discriminate against all of us retired Alaskan fishermen?

So my VIN that disappeared had been scheduled to arrive yesterday but had been transferred to somebody else. After a few days of no news I just received a call that it was transferred back to me and I have a delivery appointment on Monday. So in the end, I get the $1000 credit and it all worked out. ? I’m going to pay for it as soon as the app lets me!

Thanks for sharing! Which SC did you coordinate with? Any recommendations for those of us waiting without a VIN yet assigned? Is this Tesla-wide policy or was this a “one off“ that you were able to work locally?

My recommendation would depend upon how long ago you reserved. I reserved on day 3 and feel I had a lot to lose if they somehow screwed it up.

I coordinated through the app, once I got the VIN. I was surprised how quick I got a response from the Orlando Delivery Center even though my DC was Merritt Isle. I assume Orlando must be a hub or something.

If you have walk-in access to a DC then I guess I’d try that, seeing if you could make a new RN and transfer your upcoming VIN. Perhaps you need to wait for a VIN and then try, like I did. In the end it was stressful and not sure worth the $1000!

You could always make the new RN on your own and then ask them to transfer the VIN and make the credit from your first order but you’d be out of pocket $250 until that occurred.

I think they still owe me from my order fee but it’s a submitted claim that will hopefully be reimbursed.

That’s helpful info! I’m a RN11444…. and so I think I’m starting to get relatively close. I don’t want to go to the back of the line, but if Tesla truly wants to show “appreciation” for military service, it seems reasonable to apply the discount now (before final payment) Hopefully you’ve pioneered this process for all us. Thanks again! Enjoy your CT!

Well delivery day for me is Wednesday. So I decided to visit my SC to inquire on the military credit. It’s exactly as Stuck said. You would have to make a new account and use the military ID thing before you order. The 250 the SC manager can easily shift around but the $1000 deposit and the deposit for the extended battery is all on the corporate side so they would take a long process to accomplish but even that does not guarantee you to keep your VIN or even your spot in line.
I’m just going to bite it and keep my delivery date on Wednesday since I technically did make 5k waiting for my order on telsa stock.

Another update:

I couple of days ago I found out that getting the military discount still resulted in an unanticipated kick in the crotch by a technicality. My original order date was March 31 and the new order date to get the veteran’s discount (after assurances that everything would properly transfer) was in August after VIN assignment. I picked up the Beast and happen to live right by a supercharger so I stopped there the next day, hopeful to verify my 12 months of free supercharging that I was expecting as part of not being able to get PowerShare. Unfortunately it charged my card. I gave it a week and it was still charging my card so I went to the SC. They researched it and the free SC benefit was yanked after May 31st and my new order is after that date, so…. The rep put in a ticket to address it - we shall see.
