FYI, the clickbait title of the article omits that the husband was driving on Autopilot. It's not like the car was wandering aimlessly without a driver while a woman was screaming from the back seat

Kind of agree. But the article is unclear as to how much the father was driving vs assisting the birth. Certainly it is not recommended to stop focusing on the driving but in this case they were in stop and go traffic on the way to the hospital. My guess is that dad was probably assisting the birth far more than paying attention to the driving. If teen viral video stars are capable of sleeping in the back with autopilot, I’m sure dad was fully distracted by the events happening in the passenger seat.

But yes, the title is misleading at a minimum.

All versions of Autopilot will disengage if left unattended.

Well yes, but it’s likely the husband was less than 100% focused on driving at the time.

Good to know that even though he was maybe a little distracted that the car wasnot.

If the seat were buckled in, that would require quite the stamina and skill.

I’m thinking a stop at the auto-detailer before picking mom up would be a good call too. Of course maybe double the tip for the detailing crew. ;)

When I was born, my dad drive my mother to the hospital leaving my siblings home alone (6, 4, and 1 years old at the time… likely a crime now). He dropped her off, then had to return to pick up the babysitter for my siblings. Half an hour later he was back at the hospital and I was already born by the time he was back.
