My 2023 Model Y Long Range has been a great vehicle since purchasing in the fall of 2023. I love it! And I use FSD all the time.

Although I've had a Cybertruck reservation since 2021, only now did I purchase a new 2025 Cybertruck AWD taking delivery last Friday (June 13, 2025). I already love it too!!

I am curious as to others' opinions regarding FSD on the CT. It seems to cut left-hand turns onto a divided multiple lanes highway a dab too close to the median curb -- so close I'm amazed that it misses the median curb. In fact, I've disengaged it a couple of times to prevent such. Also, I wonder if the cameras are properly considering the width of the side mirrors when traveling a narrow street and approaching a parked pickup with a side mirror sticking out. A miss is as good as a mile, but has anyone had a mirror clipped in such situations?

FSD is a recent benefit for the CT in comparison to the time it's been in the Model Y. Performance is great in the Model Y, and I'm sure FSD on the CT will continue to improve. I'm just curious if others have the same concerns on those left-hand turns and narrow street operations, or is it just undue concerns of a "newbie"?

The Y had better fsd until the end-to-end llm was released. You’ll have to get used to the size and proportion of the truck - the turning radius calculations in your head need to be recalibrated. And remember, it will never get worse. Remember how awful AI video was like a year ago?

There is no doubt that FSD on the Cybertruck is less accurate than FSD on Models 3 and Y. I'm sure that's primarily due to the small number of Cybertrucks on the road compared to Models 3 and Y. Which almost certainly means Tesla is using their AI compute and human AI resources mostly on the high volume cars. When I took delivery of my Cybertruck a year ago, there was no FSD for Cybertruck. Tesla dedicated enough resources to get Cybertruck's FSD to a functional state and then turned back to mostly focusing on full autonomy, and the easiest cars to do that on are 3 and Y. The Cybertruck will follow, but it is a lower priority. I think things are moving pretty quickly, just expect the Cybertruck to be a few months to a year behind.

I don't have any concerns as long as it remains supervised, because I'm always ultimately the one in control. Just keep a constant eye on it, it's still better than having to do it yourself, at least in normal, tedious driving. FSD in the Cybertruck is better than it was a year or so ago in any other model.

I have an older Model-Y (Intel Atom, HW3) and my Cybertruck drives a bit better than that. I would imagine HW4 Model-Ys would be better, but I don't have that to compare it to.

Regardless, I drive 99% of my miles on FSD so they are both fine.

I had mine on FSD going down a very narrow road with cars parked on either side when a truck approached. I was *certain* our mirrors were going to hit. They didn't. My mental model of where the truck ends exceeds the reality of where it actually does (this is particularly true of the front, which I can't see when driving and assume to be *way* longer than it is).

Also, on a completely separate note, be careful pulling out if parked extremely close to anything, like another car or a pillar - the rear wheel steering causes the rear end to swing out a bit. I was parked in a very tight spot right up against a pillar and learned about this the hard way. It made a *horrible* sound scraping against the concrete pillar, and left paint from the pillar on my truck, along with some scratches. I was very happy to learn I could sand it all out! But that was not a great day.

You bring up a good point. I activated auto park in an underground garage that had support pillars every few spaces. The passenger side mirror got hit by the pillar during auto park. I took over at impact. No damage happened mirror snapped back into place. I was looking at the driver's side making sure it cleared another obstacle when the mirror was hit. So maybe the truck doesn't know it has mirrors? If I use auto park again near pillars I will close mirrors first.
When FSD was new left turns were so close to curb medians I was certain the tires would hit the curb and took over before impact. That's not an issue anymore and I forgot about it until your post.
Possibly your cameras need calibration?
Enjoy your new ride. There's nothing else like it.

The only issue I have with left turns is when there are two left turn lanes and my truck is in the right one - it consistently cuts mid-turn into the left lane, even if another car is nearby in that lane. It's not at all shy about cutting off the other car. It's one of the very few times I need to intervene.

Congrats on the purchase! Glad we have one more CT on the roads helping our FSD catch up!

We have a hardware 4 Model 3, a couple of Hardware 3 Model 3's and a Cybertruck.

In terms of FSD competency, The Hardware 4 Model 3 is the best and the Cybertruck and hardware 3 Model 3s are roughly equal, they just display their abilities in different ways. The Cybertruck makes better, quicker, more natural decisions, but the Hardware 3 Model 3 seems to know where it is in the lane better.

This makes me think the primary difference between the Cybertruck and other Hardware 4 vehicles is that the Cybertruck hasn't been trained as accurately when inches matter. This will come suddenly, at a future date.
