y’all need to start adding some “/s” to these posts or unsuspecting noobs gonna get silly ideas
Multi-tasking the /s to mean silly? That won't cause any confusion but could return some silly conversations.

/s = sarcasm

if instead folks are genuinely confused/hypothesizing about that particular feature of the CT floorboard, then I'll allow /s = silly

either way

Agree. Has been an internet standard for quite some time. By this point in time, only noobs that are internet noobs AND over a certain respectable age (as in did not get socialized by fellow youngsters on the internet) would generally not know this.

Seems a lot of sarcasm is in search of a laugh anyway so /s = silly is at least somewhat on that same path. Seriously.

either way
Ahhhh...... I just got locked into that youngsterism of "seriously". I hope no one uses /s = seriously. That would just be silly. And probably bring on lots of sarcasm as a result.

I'm so confused now.

the driver will see almost exactly the same amount of “hood” as I can see in my Lightning

only difference is that my Lightning’s hood is on the outside of the windshield
The difference:

F-150 Lightning
Bystander: "You've got some birdshit on your hood."
Me: "Shit. I see it."

Cybertruck
Bystander: "You've got some birdshit on your hood."
Me: "Hang on, let me get out so I can see it."

Cybertruck - alternate 2

Me: "Hang on, let me drive through this shipping lane. There, bird poop gone."

The first thing that caught my eyes was the door hinges. Look awful small and only a single bolt attachment to the door. Unless the door has a matching adjustable hinge plate, not going to be much room for adjustment. Heck all modern cabinet doors have European adjustable hinges that also allow for quick release. Great for when I need to crawl up in the cabinets as a plumber.

But looking at the 2 hinges look awful basic and relative lightweight for a heavy truck door and stainless panel. Am I wrong or just overthinking from my perspective.

I saw this also, but I think this is part of the crash breakaway for front end collisions. smaller easily torn off door hinges would make sense with a stainless 3mm paneled door.

Let us not forget, without the PRND stalk, the software looks at where you are, and will assume what gear you want. In your garage or driveway, it's going to look and give you R by default. Pulling away from a curb, you're likely to get D as your first choice. But when it's not sure/correct, I think you will quickly adapt to a quick swipe for your mode selection. I'm personally quite interested in the turn signals on the Yeel, I think there might be advantages to it being there, once you adapt.
This however breaks one of the fundamentals of good UI design. Things should stay in the state explicitly set, and mode change should be predictable. What you describe means the automation is not actually useful as you will have to constantly check it anyway and it also quickly becomes a nuisance when having to do tight and back and forth motions (especially when towing).

There is no user benefit to this. It’s just cost saving by Tesla. The lack of a wiper stalk is already annoying on the Model 3 and people have been ranting about this on the Model S, but at least it still has some physical controls (though how accessible I’m not sure).

But do you really want the door popping open and falling off during an accident. Hope not.

Our lapd police cars have ballistic panels built into the doors. I don't believe they beefed up the hinges on those either. But you definitely feel the weight when opening and closing the front doors. Not the rear passengers.

in the Model S, everyone loved the third center seat and its foot rest

Tesla Cybertruck New peek at Cybertruck in general assembly at Giga Texas Factory 🫣 [8/24/23 photo] 1692996829934

i *do* however remember some complaints that "foot rest" was too literal (in that it was only wide enough for one foot)

a few also complained that the seats were prone to having inconsiderate passengers placing their cold drinks right where your testicles were supposed to dock into the seat

often people overlooked these minor inconveniences, since they had the best view in the house of that center screen - unless of course there was a frontal crash, in which case the view got a bit *too* good

eventually, many owners of the model S with this same foot rest and third center seat repurposed it as a combo arm-rest, storage, drink-holder, and floorboard feature convenient for ensuring that loose items don't roll under the gas/brake pedal

i little somethin' for everyone!

You guys are lucky.

Your base trim Model Y's range from 47,000 to 54,000. Ours from 65,000 to 91,000.

Hopefully we won't see such a discrepancy with the Cybertruck.
Hold on to ya hat, Charlie.....
