I'm admitting total ignorance on inductive charging limitations, but I wonder if embedding a 48v inductive coil between laminated glass panels would be capable of wirelessly sending enough power to an externally mounted LED lightbar to light up the night while off-roading? Putting a receiver coil in a suction cup mounting bracket would surely be able to deliver adequate 5v power to LEDs, right? The control circuits could be bluetooth eliminating the need for signal wiring to the lightbar. If 48v driven Qi charging could deliver adequate power, there'd be no need for penetrations of the glass or the frame?
??
I first thought inductance but then remembered that Tesla controls the shape of the glass. To make it cheaper and more reliable, they'd just notch the glass to fit a connector. Induction is possible but it would be more expensive and for a company that removed lumbar support because not enough people used it or that doesn't include basic garage door opener functionality... I just don't see them spending the money.

Generally, no. But if you mix Elon Musk and a promise for an "Insane Technology Bandwagon" the normal business logic doesn't necessarily apply.

A person sitting in the frunk makes it look somewhat small and shallow. ie. he is not very far from the back of it

I think many of these accessories will be factory install only at time of order - and involve some wiring installation that wasn’t built into these RCs
boy, that sounds like a long lead time and resembles the way we used to order cars.....long wait times and the ordering and production process will really get bogged down...especially if it involves extra wiring options

i am thinking all around they may give about 4 facts about the build and leave it for everyone to figure out the rest through the ordering process. Like they will give us the cost, may say how many motor options, the range, the cool accessories and maybe some wrap options and that will be all we get on the main delivery event and then we will have to wait for the first owners or the order page to tell us any actual info. Really i think the cost, range and motors are what really matter anyway. The rest is sprinkles on the cake. And I agree that the base version will likely be missing a lot of the reveal stuff, but i bet that within a year a lot of it will be add options. like the 6th seat, the ramp tailgate, possibly the solar tonneau. When you are ramping a product you really need to not be getting cute and once its fine tuned you can start to offer the extras.

I agree....but to me the real issues will be motors, range and cost.....who needs to wrap a SS truck....all the other options we can add via 3rd party at our leisure........another concern is the crumple factor since they reduced the thickness......when do you think we will get to see those tests? probably never......that is scary to me

Yeah, they tend to scrape the wheels, they way they clip on with those sharp steel clips.
