Last word. I didn't mean to kick a hornets nest. It was my lack of foresight to not anticipate the whole “I would have dropped him cold” response. I was merely trying to provide a public service and undo my mistake when I described the legal consequences. There Is a lot of chatter, but what it boils down to is that this incident (the one I actually lived) did not warrant the use of a firearm or deadly weapon of any kind. It simply didn’t. There was no immediate threat that could have legally, morally, or ethically warranted it. I know. Not only was I actually there, I am also a person who has sat lead chair as a defense attorney on more murder cases than I care to remember. How many? Easy 40. Probably more. Plus too many brandishing, agg assault, homicide by assault, attempted murder etc. cases to even try to recall.
Pulling a gun would have been absolutely imbecilic in this situation. Not that I haven’t had to deal with the after effects of a whole bunch of unfortunate souls who have. Guns are like the police, getting them involved usually makes a bad situation much worse. It is so much easier to forgive and simply let it go. Even if that guy had hit me I would not have done a damn thing. It’s not worth it. I know that for a fact. I don’t need to speculate. I’ve seen it thousands of times. He was mad. He will get over it. I’ve advised too many people in chains to even count. The law doesn’t play around. Keep your cool and have compassion. If you try to wear the executioners hood you will only cut off your own hand.
