The slowest Cybertruck will still be the fastest vehicle I’ve ever owned.
They are all insane. Except airplanes, anything this heavy has no business being this fast. Here are TFL numbers:

Tesla Cybertruck Musk: I just drove “Performance” Cybertruck it kicks ass next-level (9-22-23) 1695530656213

I definitely wouldn’t want Performance CT if it is any faster than these and if it means less meaty tires. Range, quiet, comfort and payload is performance in my book. I have no problem slowing down around corners with 6000-9000 lb truck.

I keep going back and forward if I really need the tri. I won’t be towing over 10k. 2.9s 0-60 is a little over kill. Anyone have any info on power consumption with 2 motor vs 3 motor ?

Nice chart for comparisons, but isn't it kind of glaring and strange that TFL is leaving out off the 0 - 60mph acceleration metric?

For me, the metrics above are not as useful (except maybe for comparison), because I rarely or almost never accelerate maximum for a whole quarter mile (only those at the drag strips really do that), and likewise I don't test top speed very often (not many places one can safely do that either).

I like the 0-60mph metric because that's actually where most of daily driving acceleration is being done, red light to red light, highway on-ramps, etc. This is where most of the seat pressure on my back is felt, and where most of my fun driving is experienced.

Funny how TFL left this metric out?? - almost as if to avoid comparisons to Teslas?? ;).

But for me, there's no such thing as too much speed or acceleration. But, I don't play with phones in a car, I keep my eyes on the road, and I still have the visual acuity and attentiveness where I'm not one to keep curb-rashing my wheels even when I have the best backup cameras available on the planet...;)

And then you get into how fast people want to be. Me,

If they took these numbers from actual dragstrip timing slips, that would explain it. 0-60mph isnt a metric on those.

I used to own a 2s crotch rocket, I currently have a 5.2s sport car and a 3.9s truck. Bought the motorcycle for $1000. Bought the sport car for $10K and the truck after tax credits for ~$35K plus options. I have no problem with having additional acceleration on standby when it is cheap but I consider anything under 6 seconds unnecessary and I wouldn’t pay too much more for that extra acceleration. I just know too many other ways of getting a trill out of life.

I do have to admit that having good acceleration has gotten me out of hairy situations a few times but those were mostly the situations I wouldn’t have been in to begin with if I didn’t have the extra oomf.

As far as the trill of it, This may be my age talking but I do have fun with 5.2 second on my convertible but the 3.9 seconds on the truck feels more violent and disturbing than fun. I probably pass out in S Plaid. I almost do in my truck. Sometimes I floor it to make a point to someone else but I never do it when I am alone. I am not sure if I would say the same as a teenager or in my 20s but whatever dual motor will give me will be more than enough for me. I would only chose Tri-motor if the bang for the buck is hard to beat compare to dual and range is too low for dual.

@SlegMD I doubt the consumption in Tri would be too much more than dual. Tesla will probably put a motor that is optimal for cruising and one or two for power and chose intelligently to maximize range.

I do agree acceleration is helpful to get out of situations. However some of those situations may not be self-arrived or self-instigated, but could be for example just a bunch of street racers approaching from the rear prompting the need to finish passing a vehicle and change from the left lanes quickly to get out of the way. Sometimes I relish showing them I'm instantly going faster to just get out of their way, than they're actually going themselves. 😏

Acceleration preferences are subjective, but I'm glad Elon didn't think 6 seconds was fast enough. To me there's no problem in a car that's faster, because ultimately it's up to the driver, and who knows what situations may arise. Acceleration might even keep you from getting rear ended when someone is fast approaching from the rear with no one in front to block an escape. I think acceleration performance is a subjective personal preference, but like @CyberGus said, Chill Mode is always an option if one feels better using it.

Besides, without Ludicrous Acceleration, we wouldn't be able to have all those great launch reaction videos! :giggle:

I constantly check my rear-view mirror, I use left lanes only for passing, and I always give my turn signal. When learning to drive, my high school Drivers-Ed teacher told us that driving requires constant attention to other drivers, scanning various surroundings, and centrally keeping one's eyes on the road all the time, with driving being an attentive full time job.

Now there seems to be time for all that - plus texting, viewing IG, or app-fiddling on a phone requiring refocus on a device in one's hand, making much of what's outside not in focus. How times have changed. SMH :cautious::rolleyes:

Like you, I've had fast bikes (race bikes) and I have a 5.0s car, no truck. I'm buying a CT as a really big sports car, that does a ton of really cool things. If the CT were to get too pricey for my perceived value, I'll get an X, or an S. I can occasionally enjoy some fun acceleration just because I'm in the mood. And I'm here to tell you, that the new price of the S/X Plaid is really tempting. But the tech and the styling difference of the CT keep it as the first choice,

Good point. They could call it the rocket version for all I care.
Cross brand promotion!

Introducing, the CyberTruck Raptor version.

Oh wait, maybe not name it after their new engines...

Introducing the CyberTruck! Now with StarShip power!

Sticking with the space theme maybe they call it the Cybertruck GU2 or GU3. for Ground Unit (#of motors). I guarantee someone is going to gut a CT and mount a rocket engine in the back.

Everyone stating this is the Tri-motor version, was that verified or could it be a quad motor.
