Original truck was designed to be sold for $40k
Lots of inflation etc since then but the $40k design was not at a loss so sure there is plenty of margin left even at $60k

Especially with them cutting bonus offers on it.

They probably are taking a slight loss or right @ the cusp but it was worth it to them in the long run to “verify” that price was the only thing driving low sales. Now that they have done that in these 10 days he will set a firm price for it…most likely around $65K to maintain this new demand and increase the profit margin to something more sustainable

Don't forget Tesla can make more money also after vehicle sale on FSD (Supervised) and Premium Connectivity. Also minor stuff like service/accessories. I'm sure they factor this in as well.

This happened to me too when I finally got to order my AWD in Nov 2024. At that time they did not allow referral codes either, plus in 2024 the battery had Chinese parts so no $7500 from the feds either. Had I waited another month + 4 days I would have received both, but I had already been waiting 5 years plus a week since my deposit. Ah well .... still absolutely love my CT,
