Phantom Drain 10 Miles in 17 Hours

Hi,

I completely charged my CT to 100% (318 Miles) yesterday in anticipation of my long road trip today. I powered it completely off (or so I thought), under Safety>Power Off menu. I woke up this and the battery is at 306. Sentry mode is off. In fact, I thought everything was off. This kind of phantom drain is brutal. I'm planning on doing a lot of camping/overlanding. I can't image parking somewhere for 5 days to camp and lose as much as 12 miles per/day. What's going on? If anyone has any insights please share. I thought this issue had been addressed with a SW update. Am I doing this wrong?

"Range" in miles is an estimate. Did the pack still show 100%?

Did it get cold overnight? Ambient temperature will affect efficiency (and by extension, alter the estimated range).

Yes, it was 100%. It was cold last night. 36 degrees.

Others who own the truck will have better answers, but IMO, this is not how i would go about things even with my older Model S. Typically, you don't want to charge to 100% then let it sit. If you charge to 100%, you want to time it so that departure time is around when charge reaches 100%.

Roughly 1-2% of charge is lost per day sitting with many factors that play into this. I'm not exactly sure how powering off affects this. Losing 10 miles range doesn't really mean anything as it is just an estimate.

I’ve had a Tesla since 2016 and we have four in the family. I live in New York and have lived in California (with the Tesla). There is no doubt about it — cold causes the battery to drain significantly more than when it is warm, especially when the temperature gets into the low 40s and lower. The same goes for driving especially if the heat is one. My car will use 325 wh/mile during comfortable temperatures 40-60 and 375+ when it is cold. When it is warm and I am driving efficiently (not too fast, say, up to 70 or so, and I don’t do a lot of stopping and starting), I can get that figure closer to 250 wh/mile. That 250 is the magic number, because in my experience that is the only number that makes the stated range be the true range (for example, if your car says it has 306 miles of range, you will only get 306 if you keep the wh/mile around 250. I have not tested this on the CT because I am at day 96 waiting for a VIN (RN11282,).

Hi, I feel like I've had great efficiency with my CT. I've driven 1826 miles and I'm at 391 wh/mile. Teslafi estimates my range to be 347 miles. I've kept it in Chill mode and the suspension lowered for better efficiency. I've not driven above 70 mph. I've also experienced quite a bit of cold weather here in northern AZ southern UT. Many days below 40 at night. I've also been doing several high-elevation climbs from 2000 -7000 feet.

I have a Cybertruck since January. At home in the garage I lose 1% every 24 hours. That’s about 3 miles. I was just on a camping trip for 5 days. The nights were about 32 to 34 degrees. I lost 2% per overnight. Meaning from 6 pm to 6 am. It’s still not bad at all.

If you need to charge to 100%, use the departure schedule on the charging settings to reach 100% just before you leave. You don’t want to stay at 100% long term, not good for battery and maybe was the reason OP’s loss. I’m wondering if the software reduced his charge a tad for battery health?
