I recently upgraded my solar to an EG4 18K hybrid inverter and am adding a backup battery pack which requires a new 225 panel and sub panel. I am also awaiting the CT Foundation with the PowerShare feature. Tesla already approved me for the PowerShare with my existing system, but I am worried the upcoming changes will make it harder...but am hoping going with SPAN for the new panel will make it easier. Should I go basic on the 225 panel and sub panel or go for the SPAN?

Please share some collective knowledge and experience if you got it. Thanks.

Go for the SPAN.
You could even wife the span as a 200amp sub panel and leave the existing panel in place

What would the benefit of having the two panels be? More capacity, more function?

No, just saves time from needing to go through utility and removing the old panel.
Span is not a meter panel combo so you would need a separate meter

Long-time stalker, first time talker. Anticipating getting a CT and knowing my electric panel was maxed out, I had not one but two SPAN panels installed in late 2023, by a great installer also recommended on Tesla’s website for my area. All went well. I received my CT in August 2024, along with home charger and power share. I’m still waiting for my Power Share to be installed. The electrician tells me there is an issue on SPAN.IO’s part and he’s waiting for them to fix it. 6-months later this is still in limbo. I have to admit, I donā€˜t understand this issue. Anyone else waiting on SPAN.IO to green light installing PowerShare? Or did yours get installed and please share the resolution. Thanks

I needed two panels for the load at my home. I had funds at the time and decided to do both as SPAN panels. It turned out that the PowerShare cannot run both panels, and it's a software issue on Tesla's side, as I understand it. However, I can run one of the two panels only from my PowerShare, just not both. So, I had to change the circuits that I want backed up to the one panel.
