Maybe I can just pickup my hardware from you since I "don't qualify" for installation lol

Got some figures for people to reference but of course everyone’s set up will differ. They do ask for many pictures of your placement, panel, distance etc. $1050 for gateway and switch install. $1900 to install charger about 60’ away, outside. Unfortunately the panel is on the opposite side of the garage. $650 for permits, fees, inspections.

So it is $1,050 + $1,900 + $650 for $3,600 all in? Cheaper than I thought with your Universal Wall Charger being 60 feet away from the nearest panel. I live in the Bay Area too. I have a sub panel in my garage and my Wall Charger is going to be able 10 to 15 feet away from the panel. I wonder how much my install will be.

Thanks for providing this information. Very useful.

In my scenario, I have 2x Powerwalls and a Gen 1 Gateway. Installation cost was $2,500 when it was installed 2021. Hoping that they only have to switch out the Gateway, and the price will be much less. They would not need to run any new wiring, and I already have a wall connector for charging. I am looking forward to getting cellular connectivity back since it was deprecated in the Gen 1 gateways and I am running WiFi only.

1.5 weeks later. Pick up rep suggested it would be 1-2 days though. Guess just ironing out the kinks.

Nice...so you updated your Gen 1 gateway to Gen 3? Does the wiring for the Universal Wall Connector goto the gateway directly or to a sub panel in front of the gateway?

Ok, we're gonna need some more details! So is Powershare actually active? As in, if you pull the main breaker you're up on the CT? We've heard it won't be enabled until an OTA in June. This is the first I've seen of that icon showing.

No subpanel and no gateway before. About a 60’ run direct from wall charger to gateway 3

Unfortunately not active yet and was told the same, June. They left the pge meter disconnect taped up hanging out for them to install later. The wall charger works as expected though! The installer did mention this was the first he saw where the gateway connected to WiFi and he had done about 15 installs so far

Ahh I misread. So Gateway 3 + UWC. Do you have solar or power walls?

I'm getting my new UWC installed by Willow Glen Electric as well and yesterday they wired it up to a subpanel in front of my existing Gateway 2. I do have solar + power walls and according to Tesla, the UWC is the only missing component. But I can't find anyone else who has my exact same setup who has gotten it installed and has that PowerShare icon. Also I have no idea how the UWC is going to be bi-directional if its merely on a subpanel and not direct to Gateway.

I have older third party solar. No Tesla equipment before the PowerShare install.
The gateway must have lost WiFi connection and reverted to thinking it’s a powerwall? App screenshots before and after. It didn’t store any of the stats either

In case anyone else has the same issue, it looks like it was a pinched wire in the wall connector that communicates back to the gateway. Also got a new sign for the panel.

From my understanding they haven’t had PGE do the final step yet for any of their installs. Some back and forth between them and Tesla apparently.
