I wonder if a Tesla increases the price of the CyberTruck or eliminates the single motor version, how many pre-orders will be canceled? Remember the $35,000 model 3?

What makes you think there may be an increase?

Also, you can still buy a $35k SR Model 3, but it’s a bit of a process. And the value makes it worth buying a SR+.

The $35,000 M3 was a Elon mistake. He promised all those people who had a reservation that they could buy a 35,000 car. First he delivered the more expensive ones and made everybody wait, or cancel or upgrade. That really made me mad. Yes you can buy one IF you know the process/trick, but come on, he made the decision not to sell them mass market. The first Model S cars had a price increase too. Now the bottom Model Y has been removed already. I fully expect that when the CyberTrucks roll out in 2023, that the single motor version will be deleted and the dual motor and tri motor will see price increases.

OK, yeah I guess anything is possible. The price could go up. Or down like the Y, S, X and 3 just did. Or maybe there will never be a Cybertruck. I guess I don't see any reason to be worried about any of that right now.

I agree but nothing in life is guaranteed except death and taxes :) Maybe Tesla will change the single motor configuration like they did the 3 and Y but only to make it better. The very fact that they have been reducing prices seems to have gone unmentioned in this thread.

I was thinking they might cancel the single motor too. Im of the few with the single motor reservation. according to the reservation tracker single motor reservs are only about 8%

I guess it depends on how easy it is to manafacture compared to the others

If past practice by Tesla is any indication, you would be wrong to assume that. That little * that says "Subject to change" is always present.

Hah! Apparently they've already started.

I went in to tweak my reservation today to the tri-motor config and discovered that the new "Full Self Driving" price ($8k) would apparently be applied. It was $7k when I placed my original order.

It still bears the language "Selecting Full Self-Driving today will secure your price as it increases in the future." Hrmph.

Not only that, but I can't prove I signed up for it at $7k. My Order Agreement won't load, and the copy of that doc in the email I got appears to be empty (0 bytes).

While I doubt Tesla will increase the price (apart from FSD which is another matter...), if orders for the single motor drop below a certain point then yeah, it would be discontinued.
Personally, I don't think it ever will. ?

I noticed the same thing and backed out.

I was planning on doing the same thing this evening and backed out. The date on our confirmation should suffice to retain the $7,000 vs 8,000. My concern is by changing the motor configuration from dual to tri, will it kick me to the end of the queue?

It was made clear starting several months ago that the price was going up to 8,000 on July 1st. That you needed to select the check box to reserve it at 7000. Selecting it now does not mean you have to get it with your truck.
