$TSLA stock price the week of CyberTruck reveal was around $22 (splits adjusted) Had you placed a $2500 deposit instead of buying stock, you'd be out about $25,000 today.
That may be true. Are you saying that Tesla did that on purpose to help us pay for the truck or that it is just serendipitous?

I did buy Tesla stock shortly after that (and slowly over a couple of years) but all in all I am only up about 30% over the last 3 years, not 10X. Had I sold before the second split Iā€™d have been at 80% but still not 1000%. You clearly did much better - congratulations!

If Tesla had required a $2,500 fee Iā€™d have paid it.

This made me look back at my recent addition of Tesla shares. May 15th the day before the annual shareholder's meeting I bought shares at $166. At today's close price of $224.57, those share alone are up 35.28%. That's not even one month.

Fully refundable Pre order price means nothing. We need to get available trims and the final purchase price. Thatā€™s what will make reservation holders decide between cancellation or continue to actual purchase
I agree.....especially when the supply chain needs to have parts on order for build-up....they have to know what is happening......lead times on new parts and cables, and other things have to be pre-ordered, so designs have to be complete along with the molds......wonder how long they will keep us minnows on the hook

Not sure if you can take the 2019 prices and add in the rising cost of everything until 2023 to come up with a guestimate. See 30% number for 2023 in Automobile inflation quote.

1 Motor RWD - then $39,900; now @ 130% $51,870
2 Motor AWD - then $49,900; now @ 130% $64,870
3 Motor AWD - then $69,900; now @ 130% $90,870
[4 Motor AWD - then n/a $??,???; now

Automobile inflation --- May 20, 2023
"A new car will run you about $51,000 on average ā€“ about 30 percent more than in January 2020. A chart showing how much prices for new and used cars of different ages have increased since the beginning of 2020.
New cars now cost $51,000 on average, up from $39,000."

The Model Y is actually cheaper than it was in 2020.
I think a 100 kWh X/S is a better comparison.

Tesla finally felt some pressure with the 3/Y with other BEV cars out there so they dropped their prices and made a little less than 20% profit :)

The prices are a yo-yo. There have been quotes from Elon that it is a law of supply and demand and Tesla adjust the prices at will based on that. They aren't lowering prices for other alturistic reasons!

They sell the CyberTruck for what they think they can get out of it and people will pay.

Alternately you take the cost of batteries in 2019 and subtract the cost reduction of battery pack cost deflation which is 12% (BNEF battery pack benchmarking, Dec 2022) and you get...
1 Motor RWD - then $39,900; now @ 88% $35,112
2 Motor AWD - then $49,900; now @ 88% $43,912
3 Motor AWD - then $69,900; now @ 88% $61,512
[4 Motor AWD - then n/a $??,???; now
