The back corner of the driver door basically suspended half the truck. Body panel not damaged at all, just literally embedded ~1cm into a wooden picnic bench like a hatchet (across the grain though, lol). Hinges bent a bit. Door wouldn't close afterwards at all, with a misalignment of around 8mm. Realigned the door in about half an hour with an adjustable wrench and a little bit of sitting on top of the door and bouncing up and down. Gaps are not sub-millimeter perfect but good enough that normies won't be able to tell.

Moral of the story is don't do a big dumb like me.

Edit: if you're from Tesla and you're reading this: please adjust the software to add a prompt prior to lowering while parked with a door open except during the initial switch to entry position.

Saw another post of an unfortunate owner that lowered the plastic bumper trim onto something, breaking the plastic. At least it was an adjustable fix! Good reminder as always

Removed my front lower plastic bits and turned off lower for entry - could just see something similar happening over a parking curb or as this example highlights...I'm 6' and dont need entry / exit height adjustment....

Man I feel bad for you but my wife got a really good laugh out of your post. Can you elaborate how you used the adjustable wrench to correct the misalignment? Picture would be helpful. Thanks.

My 2021 ModelY (with front and rear proximity sensors in the bumpers…and the vast array or cameras) still allows my liftgate to open and hit the wall…

good luck with this seemingly logical request..

…ironically I notice sometimes when I’m closing the liftgate and walking away, it randomly pauses because a it senses ā€˜something’
