Actually work? Not sure what you mean. You installed puddle lights that don't work? Which brand was that?

I had tried a set a couple months ago off Amazon that did not work, they just would not light up. When I put the original light back in , I took a couple door openings before it came back on, I was worried the aftermarket lights messed it up at first. @AO-Pete from Abstract Ocean was trying to build some puddle lights but was having trouble according to his thread and are still not available to buy on his site yet.

As long as you have a VIN in the 2500+ range, you'll be fine. Mine are from Abstract Ocean (@AO-Pete) also and work great: https://abstractocean.com/products/ultrabright-lights-for-cybertruck

I will say that the red is not as bright as the other colors, but I don't mind that since I wanted to red for night vision anyway.

Did Tesla change something after VIN 2500?

Sorry I should have specified, I am looking for Logo puddle lights like these:

Just go with the AO puddle lights, once they're available. You won't be disappointed. AO has fantastic products and customer service. @AO-Pete Any insights you can share on general availability timelines for the puddle lights?

If someone with a later VIN (after 2500, but would love to test in a very recent VIN) wants to (re)try the projection lights, please PM me (limit 5 owners). Some backstory for context:
  • I had the Cybertruck 'graffiti' light manufactured before we got our truck in February. This was on the basis that the puddle lights in CT are the same p/n as Highland, so since they worked in Highland, they'd work in a CT, right? (wrong). The photos were taken with Highland, and they look fantastic. We're rarely first to the party, but this time I thought I'd nailed it. Didn't.
  • For our CT (VIN 1000), nothing works reliably in the doors, including our regular ultrabright lights, Tesla's own projection lights, and many other prototypes I've tried. Sometimes they'll work when plugged in, only to kick me in the balls the next morning. No amount of reboots will bring them back to life, but the factory lights power up immediately. The regular (non projection) lights seem to work flawlessly in all but the first couple of thousand CT's for reasons unknown, but yes, Tesla changes stuff all. the. time.
I'm no electrical engineer, but there's nothing smart about the lights or the supply, it's just a dumb 16v endpoint with no control wire, so I think that CT is just incredibly fussy with its soft fuses. Easy to fix in s/w, but there's no telling if or when Tesla will do that, nor would they ever tell us.

Thank you for the update! Bummer it has been so difficult, such a cool product. My Vin is in 3800 range, worth testing?

Certainly worth a try. With you and @Cyber_95 I'll have a VIN at both ends of the spectrum, so might provide a useful dataset (or not, it's been a frustrating ride so far). Please PM me with your email address if you've bought from us before (or if not, email + address).

Hey @AO-Pete, are you referring to the projection lights not working properly in the doors or any aftermarket lighting? My trucks VIN is 1834 and I purchased the ultra bright lights for the doors.

Hi Marcel. Have you installed the ultrabright lights in your doors, and are they working as expected? We're not sure at what VIN Tesla changed something, all we know is that ours (VIN1000) doesn't like the ultrabright lights in the doors (other locations are fine), but we've had other customers with VINs over 2500 that have had no issues.

Has anyone who PM'd to test the projection lights received them yet? If so, results?
