I don’t understand the logic behind willing to “paying the premium to have something early” but then being worried about the buy-back and its potentially excessive depreciation…

I totally get it; but I really don’t want to wait another year while I see them driving around for a year.Y]our cheapest way out is to probably cancel now and lose the 1000. Nobody should be ordering if they aren’t sure they want t]he FS edition.
They've already told me I won't lose the $100, $250, or $1,000 if I pass on it. But I'll be at the end of the line. I don't know if being a Tesla customer makes any difference or not, but I had a P85+ and now a 3.Y]our cheapest way out is to probably cancel now and lose the 1000. See other post, I went to Tesla and they already said I wouldn't lose any money, just my spot. One would lose the order fee of $250 Destination Fee of $1995. That wouldn't come back to you if you magically decided 6 months in you didn't like it. Tesla could offer to buy it back. No guarantee. Who knows a 500 mile range truck could appear, and Tesla says enjoy one's truck.
some forget initial TTL on $100k/$120kLosing the $7,500 totally sucks, but the 20k add on, I can justify about 15kbor so of it as its features I wouldn’t mind having.
Yes I understand the TTL will be lost as well.some forget initial TTL on $100k/$120k
and that in a resale you’ll get ~nothing for any of the FS “extras”
I believe you’re referencing the language underlined in green. That’s a lot of money in wear/tear and a reconditioning as if they want to purchase it, they pay you what they sold it to you for.

It does say FINAL price sheet, I would hope final means options included (20k).I believe you’re referencing the language underlined in green.

some issues with that language.
while obviously uncertain, there is no clarity that this provision will account for the “Foundation Series” package, which is separate from the base vehicle price.
supporting this view that the language in green will only apply to the base vehicle price and not the package, is that (1) arguably the majority of that Foundation package price is FSD, and we all know how Tesla views repurchasing FSD from customers, and (2) in the remainder of that package value are many off-vehicle accessories Tesla almost certainly won’t be repurchasing.
accordingly, the conservative take is that one assumes the $20K Foundation cost is not addressed in the green underlined language (but hope to be proven wrong).
from there, one may be surprised what peice Tesla lards in to the ‘refurbish’ sentence that follows (to say nothing of the 0.25c/mi).
anyone with a Tesla lease know if the refurbish language has an analogue in your lease agreement?
lastly, I point folks to the language in red.
specifically, you only ever get to the repurchase function (or the permission to sell to third party), if Tesla agrees your reason to sell “warrants an exception.”
Which is to say, if Tesla doesn’t agree your reason warrants an exception, Tesla doesn’t have to make you an offer, nor grant you permission to on-sale.
There again, Tesla’s attitude on this being unknown, and to date to precedent for what they view as a legit reason to sell (or their consistency in applying that view), the MOST conservative view is that Tesla will simply deny that you can on-sell (to Tesla or anyone), and leave you stuck with the truck.
From there it’s up to how the dice have been rolling for you lately.
I think a good reason to sell would be hey I drove this around for a month and don't absolutely love it. Tesla can give you an offer or not, and if not you should be able to sell. I don't see why they'd want to hold someone hostage. It does say FINAL price sheet, I would hope final means options included (20k).
All the other items you mention, I wouldn’t think Tesla would do that, but that’s also being naive.
But my dice have been rolling great lately, so who knows. You only live once was what I said when I hit the order button.
Also my reason for wanting to sell would be the 2nd reservation came up. I think Tesla would hopefully be on my side side with that one.
All fair enough, and a Tesla ‘Final Price Sheet’ for other models does show the vehicle top line price (bundled), so you have that going for youIt does say FINAL price sheet, I would hope final means options included (20k).
See you are kind of changing what the title of the thread is, which is what many are responding to. If you don't take delivery you can hold for future. Sure. That is not the title of the thread however.See other post, I went to Tesla and they already said I wouldn't lose any money, just my spot.
I'm curious how much money I'd lose by selling the truck back to Tesla. I wonder what they would roughly charge for wear/tear and reconditioning,
I'm extremely OCD about my vehicles and totally baby them and all the one's I've had and have still look pretty much new, so I wouldn't think reconditioning would be much at all. And they'd deduct the cost of the Powershare Home Backup as well since I'm sure they wouldn't want that back.
