So, someone smarter than me help me out.
If tesla, 6 years from now, offers an even better range extender for cheaper. Lets say a 200 mile capacity.
Considering degradation of my battery. Would I still be able to just plop it in there and get back up to purchase range + extra?
So, lets say, hypothetically, i get a crazy 16% degredation on my 318 mile DM CT. This brings me down to 267.12 miles range with likely 213-ish usable. (If i charge to 80).
A quick 200 mile topup to 467 and 373 at 80 would be SIIICK.
Basically future proofing the truck.
BUUUUUT
How would the BMS balance them? Would the be compatible still?
It also brings up an interesting question of charging the truck at a supercharger in the future. What if when the pack is split into two 400v packs. one is more degraded then the other? Will it charge extra slow? I'm sure tesla has thought of all this but i cant ask them lol
