Rear display cover - 3D print!

I need this I don’t want my dog to break this screen again! Please send me details where I can purchase this or anything that covers my rear screen

I used CraftCloud (https://craftcloud3d.com) to print mine as I do not have a 3D printer. Go to a site like theirs, upload the .stl file, choose a material (I used PETG) and color, get quotes, and they will make it and send it to you. Hopefully the work I have done will make the above procedure pretty painless for you.

Very cool idea. I am curious. How easy is it to get off when you want to? Just on first glance, I wonder if it would be better to leave the bottom edge open, so you could slide it on and off from the top/

I tested that myself yesterday and it came off pretty easily. The problem with removing the lower lip (and the reason I put it on in the first place, because early versions didn't have one) is that the cover was sliding too much. Of course, that was before I got the clips the right size. That said, it isn't intended to be removed on a daily basis. Mine is actually behind my dog liner so as long as I have dogs I suspect the cover will remain. If you want to put it on and take it off daily I think it should be fine, but it doesn't sound like fun doing it.

Having the lips should keep the cover in place enough that the cover doesn’t move around and the cover is 1/8” thick so it is pretty resistant (but not entirely so) to scratching the screen. I suspect that if your dogs put that much weight on it my cover (and foam/felt) wouldn’t help it. My cover is a helluva lot better that a screen protector.

When I had them made by CraftCloud they cost between $30 and $40 including shipping, depending on how fast I chose to have them make it. I happen to believe that it would be worth a try and that is what drove me to do this. No one is making anyone try it.

All, have you got dogs or other items moving about in the back and worry about your rear screen getting damaged? I do/did, and despite promises of a cover 'coming soon' it never came. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and designed a cover for 3D printing.

It took me several iterations and, since I do not have a 3D printer, it cost me about $150 to get a $30 part, but now I have one that works. It doesn't have fancy Cybertruck logo artwork on it, and it really just snaps onto the sides of the display with lips on top and bottom. It does not block the vent.

As I recall about 8 1/2” X 6 2/5” but that is approximate. Definitely less than 10” X 10”.

What about a silicon lid cover for a Pyrex type container? If you found one the right size that’d probably offer some good protection

You could also print it in TPU to keep the scratches on the screen to minimum and make removal easier. Or print the flat portion in TPU and the rest in PETG/PLA.
