Tesla Cybertruck Recall Notice Letter: Wiper Motor and Sail Applique IMG_9920

I got this notice from Tesla in the mail yesterday.

Unf when I brought my FS to Tesla for service in July I requested these fixes but the service guy said my truck had no recall. Now I have to bring it back again. ? for the repairs I asked for back in July.

Same exact thing happened to me. Took delivery in June and I actually scheduled a service appointment once they sent the initial recall notice and I was told by service that my car didn’t need it so the appointment was mutually cancelled.

Now I received the notice. Contacted service again and have yet to hear back. Make it make sense.

I did the same and same reasoning. Wasn’t listed, but I got the letters a few days ago and ironically last week my wiper failed so have it scheduled for Sept repairs

I've had my wiper motor and appliques replaced twice. FS AWD 113xx

Once on 07/13 (pre-recall letter)

Again on 08/24 (post-recall letter)

My SC (West Covina) said the parts had been revised since 07/13 so they replaced them again.

I've said this before, but it's really too bad that the SC service experience varies so wildly. West Covina is top-notch and always has been (they were previously in Walnut/Pomona).

I just got the two letters too. They said I don't need to do anything until the parts are in-stock. And I'm in no hurry to do any of the recalls because everything looks fine. Of course I can't inspect my wiper motor controller, to see if the power transistors were internally damaged by an overly ambitious testing procedure, but it's been working fine so far. Not worried.

My guess is Tesla is going at legacy auto speed on these recalls because they can. Even though they call them "safety" related recalls, they know the actual chance of real harm is miniscule. So they go as slow as they are allowed.

I was at service this week and asked about this recall and was told that the wiper recall was not listed for my truck but the sail applique was listed. We scheduled an appointment for Oct 1st to address the sail applique as I do have one side that is out of spec. I did not receive any letter in the mail even though my VIN is in the range for both.

which sail is it? I've only had issues with my drivers side piece that runs from hood up and over doors where the nut becomes lose at front attachment which I reached the nut by opening the hood and tightened myself after they repaired it back in March. I used lock tight, done.

When I had to have service for something else, I asked about the two known recalls too! Wanted to see if I could get them done while they had the truck. Like everyone else, they said there was no recall on the computer for my vehicle, so they couldn’t do anything. So, I challenged them and they said Tesla distributes vehicle recalls over time so that the service centers don’t get deluged with folks wanting theirs done at the same time. Kind of makes sense actually!

Checked the mailbox and both letters showed up, one for wiper and one for sail panels. Called my local service center and still only the sail panel recall shows up for my VIN so I sent them a copy of the letter and they will put that into the system and try to update me next month at my service appointment if they get the parts by then.
