Having made three trips in 2024 between NJ and SoCal, I answer those questions with "the truck goes way farther than my bladder can so I have zero range issues!"

My only trip to the gas station is for the big lawnmower and snow thrower, and yes, I love doing that trip in my CT.

I am anxiously awaiting a 3/4 ton so I can start transferring my work trucks that way. So nice not to go to fuel stations.

What do you think a 3/4-ton Cybertruck would do that a 1/2-ton wouldn't do?

Absolutely liberating! What’s even more liberating is when you know most of those electrons are fueled by your solar. Worst case scenario - Tesla supercharger is always there for a quick juice up! Love it!!

I just completed a few thousand mile holiday road trip and really enjoyed the new “set arrival state of charge” feature. It enabled me to get to a hotel with enough charge to make a SC on the route without any backtracking the next day. Definitely game changer!

plow and haul ice melt.
Unless your snow plowing duties are just light-duty stuff averaging 2-4 times per a year, if you have real snow to deal with on a regular basis, I recommend waiting for a 1-ton Cybertruck, maybe available by 2033-2035.

Thankfully, I let others deal with the snow plowing. It seems around here everyone and their brother has a truck with a snowplow, and they want to plow for you. Competition to get the snowplow jobs is pretty fierce (I think a lot of them have to justify the money they spent on their plows to their wives or something).

seems that this sis the way it is this year. I do it because I love the job. I love being out in the thick of it. But the Aluminum frame is the problem. It would not take the impact very well at all. Weight of the plow also would destroy the front end quickly. And yes, We plow average 8 times a year and ice control 47 times.

I would get one-ton trucks at a minimum, unless you don't get deep and wet snowfall, or you only plow small areas and don't need to move a lot of snow in a short period of time. Even a 1-ton truck with a commercial duty plow can start to struggle when the snow is coming down fast and furious unless you only have a small area to keep plowed.

As a hypermiler who had mpg anxiety, 1st gen GM Volt owner with gas anxiety (I was 99% electric over 3 years with miles of EV range), Spark EV was my range anxiety, and my 1st Tesla really gave me the full freedom of range liberation but since I had free supercharging, I still had home plug anxiety lol. I really appreciate range liberation when I finally gave that up and had home solar.

Not sure why the hell I decided to get free supercharging again on my CT and bringing all that anxiety back....

That anxiety of laying in bed, thinking, “I should of filled up before coming home, I should Have enough to make it to work, but not enough to make it home, do I stop here on the way out? What if the gas station near work is cheaper, plus it’s going to be freezing”. Now I don’t think about daily driving at all. Just get up, push, my dismiss alarm button also starts preconditioning my truck, when I’m done with my shower it’s nice and toasty.

Love the term and 100% agree. I have a frustrating hard time explaining this to non ev owners though. Or maybe those who have never experienced it just have a hard time getting their brain around it.

Conversation always starts with, "Do how long does it take to charge?" I explain basically all the points made above and inevitably they kinda glaze over and when I'm finished almost always say something like, "ok but like if you're at near 0% when you stop at a charger, how long does it take to charge to 100%?" I then try to explain how you pretty much never do that, why the question isn't even a good indicator of how range and ev's and charging works regardless of the answer, and reiterate a couple key points. They just glaze over and are like, "yea, just can't see sitting to charge more than 5 min." Sometimes adding, "between that and potential to not be able to find a charge, it's just not for me."

Sometimes I try and address those statements telling them chargers are virtually everywhere, how the software pretty much make sure you never are stranded, and how this also is just not an issue. But usually by that point I just sigh, mentally face palm, and walk away.

Sometimes I'll try and make them understand a couple other important points and ICE differences, like how even if this is a small issue ever, it's only like 2-3 times a year and I'll glady deal with that to otherwise NEVER have to go to a gas station or worry about fuel.

I used to try and help them open their mind and actually hear me by conceding that if you drive 250+ miles a day, don't always end up at home every night and / or regularly tow heavy loads over significant distance than yes CT or any ev probably isn't ideal. It doesn't help lol. I just see in their eyes them thinking, "yep, range is a big issue, i knew it."

It's so frustrating!
Best way I have found so far is to simply tell people that it charges in the exact same way their phone does.
