Some notions. Rivian isn't making any money at the price points in the R2/R3 reveals. Will they execute while laying off workers?? The appropriate comparison is to the Model Y, which has alot more pizzazz in same price ball park... The CT IS NOT AN SUV...
Tesla hasn't made any money with the initial price points of the Model 3, Model Y or Cybertruck. Last I heard, the Cybertruck costs Tesla about $17k for everyone sold.

They get cheaper as production matures and quantity goes up.

Placed one on order. But…

I just bought my wife a 6.2 L V8 Yukon Denali, it’s a big old beast and takes Premium unleaded. This SUV has as much pick up speed down the road as my Ford lightning does, in my opinion.

I’ll let her drive that for a few years and get it out her system and then try to get her either the R2 or the R3. This depending if Tesla doesn’t come out with something better to what Rivian is doing now with EV SUVs.

Like the square SUV look with Rivian, not so much the ? look of the Model X and Y?! LOL

Time will tell?!

But don't worry, the price of premium gasoline, more expensive oil changes, more expensive repairs, compared to normal ICE vehicles shouldn't be over a couple grand additional a year.

Yes, and the pickup gets better on your second attempt, (you dropped a few gallons of load on the first one)

Let's see, a battery that is bigger by about 16% has about 16% more energy.
And takes up about 16% more space.

And costs maybe 16% more.

Do you really think that Tesla didn't think about that size when they came up with the 4680 battery? The "size" of the battery is just something that has a lot of parameters and optimizations associated with it.

Yes, you could have maybe gotten an EPA blended range of 500 miles, but the Cybertruck would have been heavier, more expensive and probably lost a little clearance.
Lol and no one is debating that. I'm all for what Tesla chose

The R2 looks great, but I would love to see a R2T version. It would be comparable in size (slightly smaller) than the Ford Maverick Hybrid that I've been considering, and would be fully electric. Perfect for what I want.

I'd consider R1T pretty small already. They mightve figured a smaller pickup wouldn't have much benefit. But sounds like there is a market for it

R1T falls between Ford Ranger and F-150 in size, but both are still too large. The Maverick is popular around here and is just about right for my needs.

Do the vision only Teslas have summon yet?
The reason I have not placed a deposit on R2 is the AP/FSD thing. Not sure Rivian has the resources to catch up with Tesla on that front this decade.

I don’t care much about summon, though - I don’t use it on my 3 with radar.

Ofcourse I do think deletion of radar was mostly because of parts shortage at that time.

Y or CT? THAT'S THE QUESTION! Aside from the cost difference >20K, 2 years from now, the Y will likely be a better LR road trip SUV. (BORING). But the CT is a base for new adventures. Imagine carrying a couple of Zero motorcycles in the bed, and pulling the Overlander trailer! As a retiree, some of this is pipe dreams, but not all... It's fun to dream rather than settle...

Yeah, agreed. 10 years from now AP/FSD will be solved by Tesla AI. Although getting out of jams will always require a human. FSD V12 is already doing suburban routine driving pretty well. FSD at night with cameras alone is another challenge...

Yup, and the utility value of the cybertruck would triple, no clue how Rivian is beating Tesla in the range game, and by the looks of it...price
It is smaller without the steering, suspension, and we don't know the price. Tesla decided not to double stack cells but adding. 16 mm to the length would add 18% more storage. So 70 ish more miles.

Yea that 70 miles would be really big. 300 vs 370 or 100 vs 125 towing is pretty big.
Be interesting to see how it shakes out.
