What was your total cost? I have a shop asking $600 just to tint the windshield only. That seems a bit high for just one glass but I'm not well educated on this so any thoughts?
It really varies it seems. I’m in Central California and my shop charged me $450 for the windshield and $350 for i3 ceramic with 93% heat rejection on all sides. I didn’t get the driver and passenger side windows as dark as I wanted so they are going to remove them and replace for free. They had difficulty with the windshield and didn’t like that it wasn’t perfect so I have to go back for that. We didn’t even see how it turned out. They decided it wasn’t good enough so they removed it. I’ve had my MY tinted by them and they do great work. I’m waiting for my wrap color choice to be shipped to them for that project.

Make sure the shop you go to has experience. My normal shop (did 15-20 cars for myself/family and friends with minimal issues) tinted my windshield and it came out with all this snow flaking and ghosting. They were up front and said that’s the best they can do and refunded me.

Had my truck wrapped at OCD and asked for there option. They said the install was pretty bad and that there install will have no problems. Got it redone and 0 issues.

$600 vs $1600 in pay.

Xpel XR plus for the 1st shop and 3m for OCD.

lolno. Just got the quote for tint.

Tesla tells me so little information each time I ask that I'm not even sure what's happening anymore.

Someone else has one coming here, was told 4/6 ETA to the showroom. I have a weekend trip coming up (so would not be here to pick up the truck), so I asked for the eta to see if I can finally be sure that our trucks are travelling together. They gave me so little info that I honestly am not even sure what they meant. If I read between the lines, my ETA has now slipped from 3/27 to 4/2 to 4/8 to now 4/12, and the truck is still sitting in Austin, despite being marked "in transit" weeks ago.

Alternatively, they already figured out we have been sharing ETA info, and they assume I already know about the 4/6 ETA.

I no longer feel bad nagging them for updates. Several times they have given me no info, and when I ping them again to clarify, a separate person answers with slightly more info.
Oh ok. Yeah I don’t blame you. I didn’t feel bad after that long either. Hopefully delivery doesn’t conflict with your trip.

sounds like it won't. 4/8 unconfirmed ETA (just hit my inbox). That's a good sign at least. it's the first time I haven't been 10 days away as the ETA keeps slipping.

Thanks for the info! It appears there is a lot of that going on as these shops learn how to work on the CT.

That’s great news. Congratulations on there finally being a light at the end of the tunnel. I know you probably won’t believe it until it actually happens so I’ll be excited on your behalf lol. Can’t wait to see pics.

I am looking to get all "glass" tinted for CT. I need some inputs please. I have heard that if you tint the roof glass, it would void warranty. Is this true?
I have a quote with Llumar IRx nano ceramic (high heat rejection). Any inputs would be appreciated. The price is reasonable since I will wrap with UPPF at the same time. I have heard people prefer Xpel IRx. What is the difference (from user point of view -- not spec related)? Is the vision clear at night (for either one?)? What about heat rejection?
My plas is below:
Front Windshield: Llumar IRx 80
Top glas: ??? I heard 30 is good enough, I can go darker --- suggestion please.
Front driver and passenger -- Llumar IRx 50 (or may be 30)--- debating, since I don't want it too dark due to visibility at night, just want the heat reduction
Back passengers -- Llumar IRx 30 (or 20)-- the darker the better. :)
Any suggestions, inputs would be greatly appreciated.
I do not want too dark due to night visibility, so the reason for lighter on windshield and front drive and passenger (and no cop issue). Heat rejection is my main purpose.

Thanks all for your inputs.
To make it easy, I tinted the exterior of the windshield and roof with one piece of film, and I pinched the bottom edge of the windshield with the hood so the air won't peel it off. Also critical to use extra high performance glue.

For reference, in Dallas/Ft. Worth I paid the following for 3M Ceramic IR:

All side windows (3 on each side): $450 (flawless install)

Roof Glass: $450 (installer tried once and could not do it so I got a refund and removed it)

Front Windshield: $378 (installer tried twice and could not do it so I got a refund and removed it)

Going to readdress the roof glass and front windshield again in a month or so as shops get more experience. I was tired of being the guinea pig lol....

Just for reference the shop in the video did mine recently.

front windshield 70% 3M crystalline - $1600
front windows 20% 3M crystalline - $375
sunroof glass 70% 3M crystalline - $700

they're in Fremont, CA. I didn’t do the rear windows as they were already factory tinted or darkened. Or didn’t want to pay the extra for doing like another 70% on top of them.

Really debating between 70 and 50% on the windshield… is 50% too dark?
