Let me just start by saying I love my Cybertruck. I actually feel like it was worth the 2.5 year wait. It has exceeded all of my expectations. Secondly, let me also say I have not been driving through water. I have not been submerging the wheels. I have not been doing any crazy offloading as of yet. We got a bunch of snow up here about a week ago and so I needed to remove the wheel covers because sometimes deep snow can wedge in between the cover and the wheel and cause the cover to come off. When I took off the wheel covers, I was very unhappy to see that in the centers of all four wheels is some very noticeable rust. Is this something that I should contact Tesla about and see if they can change the wheels or is this just surface rust and of no concern? Has anybody else found rust in the center of their wheels?

I'd say it is just a normal vehicle thing. Oxidation is expected, especially if you're driving in snow and salt. You could wire it off and throw some grease there if it really bothers you.
Remembering how the soap to ease assembly tended to cause the accelerator pedal cover to slip off, I'm wondering whether grease would make it easier for the wheel cover to inadvertently come off.

I often wonder about unanticipated side-effect of something otherwise obvious.

After removing surface rust (how to do that without removing more paint in the area? may have to take the wheel off to have good access), Rustoleum (lots of masking tape to keep it off of anywhere unwanted) might help, although any paint might get scratched off by the metal clamps.

There's something called Fluid Film; I don't know how slippery it is.

There's also a WD-40 gel, which might tend to stay put and at least be less messy than grease.

This looks interesting:

https://www.amazon.com/Waterproof-Rust-Proof-Anti-Squeak-Lubricant-Maintenance/dp/B0DHGH8MPH

No idea what other alternatives there might be that offer some rust protection without being slippery.

Maybe it doesn't matter, but I'd think twice before using any regular grease.

I suspect that we all have this; I certainly do. I chalked it up to us not having the wheel covers for most of a year but maybe they would have rusted anyway. It looks ugly.

Just turn it black with some phosphoric acid; also known formally as 'Metal Prep' or 'Ospho' at Home Depot, or Coca-cola which has loads of it.

Great for cleaning pennies, and turning rust inert black phosphate.

Outside of unit bearing hub and flange face should have some surface rust. My model 3 performance has this too. Although I will say teslas usually show a lot more of this surface rust vs other oems so I wonder who their parts supplier is for unit bearings and why they are particularly susceptible to this rust .

Seems about the same as on my Mazda, and prior Nissan, Chevy, Toyota, or Honda...

It’s also entirely possible that at least some of this rust is from brake dust accumulation as well, even deep in that center crevice if you are driving around with no cover over the wheels, as I am, and have this rust, as I also do. I don’t think it is anything to worry about.

cheers

Just put on some wheel caps, problem solved?
I had this rust on the hub when I picked up my truck in May, bought some wheel caps and rubbed off the rust and ignored it....I finally got my hubcaps 2 weeks ago but haven't bothered to install them this winter
