I love Ryan’s stuff…honest assessments, like when his Rivian “bricked“ him.

I was hoping to see a race with the Brawley or a CT sand hill climb.

I’m gonna try it with mine…big arc!

it was BS then, too - to the same extent I meant it above

Of course what they’ve given is an actual calculation. I didn’t mean it wasn’t. But another actual calculation is instead of miles per hour is “centimeters per second.”

but people don’t report centimeters per second, because the purpose of these is to provide relevant comparisons

The style of torque reporting Tesla is doing is not been the industry standard to date, even for Tesla - until maybe the new Roadster

and here’s what they did with the Roadster:

28F9685F-962C-4DE0-A907-78E356A03B18.jpeg

notice it says “wheel torque”

they’re taking the power at the engine, multiplying by the gearing ratio to the wheel

Torque absent HP and RPM is meaningless on its own

Take a Dodge Desmond with 972nM torque at the engine. In first gear, through final drive, that’s 14,000nM at the wheel. In 2nd gear it’s still 10,000nM. (All ignoring multiplication.)

This is why engine manufacturers or OEM’s tend to quote torque back at the engine.

Which with the Roadster would be about 750ftlbs of torque

if Tesla wanted to provide a figure that gave a relavent comparison, they could do what all OEMs other than GM have done to date: provide the relevant conversion, and then otherwise site Hp and 0-60 etc.

Otherwise, and without an explanation or context, what Tesla is reporting isnt useable as a comparison to other vehicles not listed in the same terms. At which point one starts to wonder why they provide the figure at all.

personally, the reason smells to likely to be to confuse and mislead. It leads the unwitting thinking eg the Roadster has 10X the torque as the Dodge Deamon, when in fact it has less (in the most relevant context of assumptions).

just like with the Roadster “wheel torque” figure - it’s basically meaningless on its own absent context.

The 2020 Ford Super Duty diesel, for example, makes roughly 17,200 lb.-ft. of wheel torque in first gear.

Tesla can cite speed in cm/second all it likes, but it’s as possible as it ever was to convert that to mph and at least also give that figure - or at least for someone reporting it to do so.

in standard terms, the CT’s torque at the wheel can be easily converted back through the drivetrain to a standardly presented ~750 ftlbs of torque

just like Ford does with the Lightning
TEASE!

Now I want my Roadster…didnt they do a ”founders edition” on that too?

Is there a Roadster Owners (future) club too?

I dont know if there's anything less interesting than drag launching a pickup truck. I would trade that top tier performance for literally any other metric or something off the long list of cut features.

I have a CB on order. This is very bad. What would happen if you refuse delivery in that state, do you lose your deposit? Is it fixable? Ugh. It looks hand made, and poorly done at that. I wonder if you could order a replacement part from the standard AWD.
Agreed! I’m getting a FCB too.

I startted looking at wraps as soon as I saw it. White is a stupid color for a truck interior anyways. Wood, carbon fiber or some kinda metal would be cool

I personally want a hammered copper…or bullet dents

Curious, if the screen goes out, can you still use voice command to change climate, observe power/range, perform some typical commands you would do with the screen etc.
I believe so, but what do you mean screen go out? The screen is broken? Time to get it fixed.
The most common time the screen is out is during a reboot. At that time the other functions don't work. But cool thing is that you can reboot it driving down the road and if FSD is running, it will continue to run.

Climate, you can do it on the phone as well.

The original post is talking about Ferrari and Lambo, which make around 5k and 10k vehicles per annum, respectively. The ramp on CT is hopeful to be at a run rate of 250k per annum by the end or 2025. Even at today's production numbers, it is easy to see CT doubling Ferrari and Lambo production combined in 2024. The vin tracking thread estimates annual production of 17k today, that's before any real ramp, this is the start of production.

Will the very first resold CT get some crazy amount? It might. Do you have your truck already? If not, then you won't be the first reseller.

If the first reseller gets $200k for his CT, what do you think happens with supply and demand? Now the 20k people who own a CT sees this, if Tesla is lenient on their resale clause, they are selling too. Now supply > demand and that first sale is a unicorn.

This happens with mass produced collectible sales all the time. Look at sealed video game sales for a numerically similar comparison. Sealed games were selling for high six and low seven figures. They've depreciated I'm many cases 90% in one year. Why? Mass produced goods depreciate, the supply of sellers came out to collect some cash too. Save this and tell me "I told you so" if I'm wrong. I won't be.
There is STUPID money out there, especially in the hands of our influencers.

One guy crashed a plan, on purpose. A few hundred thousand down the drain for a YouTube video.

But the FAA won in the long run and put his ass in jail.

There's a LOT of billionaires out there that wouldn't even blink at a quarter million dollars. And if that means that they can get one before their friends, it's money well spent.

It's in an exclusive club right now and may be that way for many months to come.

For clarity, the video shows where the screen stopped working and they had to take vehicle to receive service at nearby Tesla. With the screen not working, he said he couldn’t change climate, check speed, etc…

My question is would voice commands still work as temporary workaround for limited functionality. Looks like the answer is yes, voice commands would still work.

Thank for those who gave opinion on my plans.

I am flexible, 30 plus years career in corporate planning and investments makes me flexible and nimble.

And it's not even the worsr case scenario if I have to keep the CT FS and I turn out to be THE collector,, :p

Ok, I'm convinced, it's awesome.

Wait, I already ordered.

The prayers now is not to fall in love with it so I can still pursue my strategy of buy-enjoy-and-sell at small profit like what my son-in-law did with his 2 Ferraris and an Lambo Aventador.
Why would you wait 4 years to make a small profit?

You consider that toeing ? Lol ....ok Put a trailer on it for pete sakes with a 3000lb car and gives us numbers . That was just pure hogwash.
Nice to avoid the sand dune hill ... you know... the one with actual tire tracks going up ?
I ordered my Cybertruck but would really like to see an honest, unbiased non-paid actor to review it. This was pathetic.

I have watched virtually all of the Cybertruck reviews and felt that Ryan’s was #1. No hype, great editing and his honest opinion of the vehicle.

All reviews rave about the steer by wire and RWS maneuverability of the Cybertruck. You know these features will be creeping into the rest of the lineup in the next few years.
