Hi everyone,

We’re the team at LAMTTO, and we’ve been doing a deep dive into an issue that many drivers across the U.S. have been reporting more frequently:

Parking lot hit-and-runs & insurance disputes without video evidence.

Across several car communities, we’ve seen owners mention:

Impact footage missing because the SD card corrupted

Traditional dashcams failing to record the exact moment needed

Thieves intentionally removing the dashcam or SD card

Insurance companies requiring “clear video proof” before approving claims

Because of this trend, we’ve been testing how cloud-backup dashcams (including our DC22 4G model) can serve as an additional layer of protection — specifically against fraudulent claims, staged bumps, and anonymous hit-and-runs.

We wanted to share some of our field data and ask for your feedback.

⭐ What we found during testing

1. Cloud-backup helps when the SD card is damaged or removed

Many parking lot incidents involve:

Impact while owner is away

Someone grabbing items from inside the car

Camera being unplugged during a break-in

A traditional dashcam can lose the key footage in those moments.
A cloud-connected camera, however, pushes the event clip online the instant the impact is detected.

2. Instant alerts help with real-time verification

If an incident happens, the owner receives a phone notification.
Several beta users reported catching the other driver before they left because of the alert.

Cloud storage prevents:

File corruption

Missing timestamps

“SD card was full” issues

Why we are asking the community

We want this post to be a discussion.

We’re currently improving our 4G dashcam platform, and your experience helps us shape the next update.
Specifically, we’d love to hear from you:

Questions for the community

Have you ever had a hit-and-run where your dashcam didn’t capture the footage?

Do you think cloud backup is actually valuable for insurance protection, or is SD storage enough?

Are there features you feel are missing in today’s dashcams when dealing with parking lot accidents?

We genuinely appreciate your insights.
Hearing real-world experiences helps us prioritize the right features and avoid building things nobody actually needs.

Thanks for letting us be part of the conversation — looking forward to your feedback!

No. I get videos when people walk too close to my truck. I have faith it’ll save if any car actually contacts it.

Cloud backup would be nice for extra peace of mind, but SD storage is honestly plenty. I’ve had my truck for over a year and my drive isn’t full. Teslas come with 128 GB, and you can easily delete unneeded footage straight from the car. No need to plug your drive into a home computer.

Honestly can’t think of anything more I’d ask of Tesla’s system. If I was in your business, I’d copy Tesla’s system as close as possible and sell it to non-Tesla owners. Those side cams are gold for getting license plate numbers. Also include date/time/location stamps if you can. You’d be surprised how many people walk into police stations reporting a hit and run and have absolutely no clue where or when it happened. I’m like, well, can’t do much for you then.

I think a cloud backup and remote monitoring is a must. Our trucks have a ton of cameras but we still have blind spots, especially in the front half. Can your dash cam be controlled to rotate/zoom? That would be awesome.

Yes, those visual blind spots are a real headache. The rotation and zoom features you mentioned are indeed not yet implemented in this product, but it's a good suggestion, and I will recommend it to our engineers!
