Self driving backing up when towing a trailer ?

Less than a decade away from replacing a FO? No way, I’m an FO and there is no way airlines will go to with only one pilot.

There is a company that has the drone software contract that is in your state. In 2009 (+/- a year or so) they approached the largest 135 operator in the US and asked to do a proof of concept for allowing automation to replace the SIC. That company said no, so they went after another operator. There was a demonstration done and a set of requirements were drafted with the FAA. The rapid advancements in tech have the 135 operators looking at it closely, and the 121 guys are interested as well. You've hear about the "crisis" over the pilot shortage. You don't think there is some business somewhere that is trying to solve this "crisis" at a tidy profit???

As I said, beginning with cargo, probably 135 first, we are less than a decade away. Believe me or not, I consult in that world.

Multiple decades away is definitely not true. They've only been working on this for one decade
