I experienced self driving malfunctions while hauling bicycles that obstructed the rear camera. The self driving engaged but would not drive in center of lane and accelerated to high speeds requiring deactivation. The hitch mounted bike carrier allowed some visibility but limited. When I removed the carrier self driving performed well.

Same happened to me - interference with the camera and some minor quirks with FSD, BUT what really got me was when a cop pulled me over to tell me the rack was blocking my license plate (I've had a bike rack for decades and have never been hassled about that). I think he just wanted to see the CT and he didn't give me a ticket (but said there are people on the local police force that would) - so to deal with both issues, I bought the tailgate pad and have actually been much happier with that solution anyway - so in a way I'm glad I was hassled (forced me to take action).

Same thing happened to me as well. Interestingly, I noticed that at night it did better because the visibility was lower.

I believe that FSD is in a strange rapid loop of:

1) Holy Smokes! There is a bike about to hit me!
2) Oh, nevermind. We're good.

take a look at the rear of the vehicle on the FSD visualization. If yours is like mine, it looks like a ghost car is constantly colliding into it.

Hilarious. How’s your tailgate pad been? You got the one from Tesla? How’s it holding up?

The way my self driving responded I think Sparky thought there were two bikes trying to run him over so he increased speed and swerved to the right to avoid them?
