While FUD abounds, as a Cybertruck AWD owner of nearly one year here are seven things I think most people don't realize about Cybertruck:
  • Cybertruck is built better than most vehicles - including BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Range Rover, etc. It's just solid and everything works as it should. Best built vehicle out there and certainly the best-built Tesla by a country mile - and I've owned three others.
  • Cybertruck doesn't steer, handle or brake like a truck. Steering and handling, curiously, are much better than the 2021 Model S Plaid I traded in for it. Drive in low ride height and chill most of the time and it can manage a corner or tight parking lot space easier than the Model S due to four wheel steering. Just have to remember that no matter how nimble it seems, it's still quite long.
  • Steer-by-wire is revolutionary. I'm old enough to remember the early days of ABS and four wheel disc brakes which truly changed the safety and agility of many/most vehicles on the road. Steer-by-wire is...magical. You still have enough weight in wheel to feel the vehicle (fantastic tuning!) but not having to turn and turn and turn the wheel is how all vehicles should drive, always. The first time I drove one of my ICE SUV's after driving the Cybertruck for a few weeks I almost ran into a median - because I hadn't steered enough. It's effortless to drive around town or on highways.
  • Cybertruck is the easiest vehicle to clean inside and out. Sprayway ammonia free and wipe off with clean microfibers for the exterior and windows. I use armor-all wipes for the interior. Can clean the whole truck inside and out in under 30 mins. It's crazy how easy it is. And no need to worry about rock chips in the paint, scratches, etc. The stainless is, literally, bulletproof and the interior materials on the seats is comfortable but thicker and more durable than that in other Tesla models.
  • It's shockingly efficient. I averaged 321 Wh/mi in my 2021 Model S Plaid. In mild/hot conditions I average 333 Wh/mi (or better) in my Cybertruck AWD for over 350 miles of real-world range. Crazy.
  • Interior storage is okay, but could be better. I added the rear underseat storage tray which helps a lot. Also have the OEM frunk net which I'd highly recommend. But I prefer the center console of the S/X/Y better due to it's deep cubby space and the S/X have active ventilation for wireless phone charging which Cybertruck does not.
  • You can power your house via Cybertruck with a simple generator cord and inlet. That's all you need. No fancy Powershare. Just plug it in and flip a breaker.
I've got plenty more, but the lists get long otherwise and no one will want to read them. Feel free to add in the thread!

That's awesome about the PowerShare, as I've been wondering about whether that would work. I know the difference is 9.6kW vs 11kW, and PowerShare is automatic. Using a locking plug with interlock is like having a manual generator, but it's far far cheaper!

Another fact..

The lack of Simple Lane Keep with AutoPilot is sub-standard and a bit appalling.

All in an effort to sell FSD to the customers..
Agree some but thought about it. Our F150 has basic lane keep and ACC but not to extent it turns too much. They have Blue Cruise that works in some good highways and interstates but charge a large annual fee.

Tesla charging $99 month for FSD which is way more capable while more than BlueCruise seems to be worth it or on par. All makers seem to be going to subscription models.

Basics lane-keep is all I ask. As we once had it.

and for those that want to pull the word-play “it was only a beta yadda-yadda-yadda, or we never had it on CT”….Then this would be yet another area where Tesla is lacking.

It's not the best built by a long shot. Let's be honest.
When I got my CT last year, I was expecting a lot of issues. However, my CT has turned out to be very well built. All my panels are aligned, there are no noises inside the cabin, I mean, I have not found an issue with it to bitch about. This is my third Tesla, the first being a 2018 Model S, which had rattles and other minor issues that Tesla eventually fixed. There's still a panel defect from manufacturing that they can't fix and so that'll stay with me.

But with the CT, I have not seen any of the issues that have been talked about and so I can say it is a very well built vehicle.

I feel the same way with my CT.

Heads up if you're moving tires, that panel at the far end of the CT bed will break if you let a tire roll and hit it hard. Mine did and then the tonneau wouldn't close without getting all scratched up. Tesla service replaced the panel for free but just be warned, it's a removable piece that comes out to install the tent, and you may want to be gentle loading tires into the bed.

Please explain the power cord you’re using to power your house from the truck. I have a 30 amp generator circuit already set up on my house.

Mine is awesome. Build is great. So I'm being honest.
The trolls come in thick and heavy in happy threads like this one where people are sharing their real experiences. They try to drown out the real voices. I'm not even convinced they are all real humans, AI web bot trolls are cheap nowadays, especially the low-quality ones we appear to have here. It takes very little compute to run them.

You missed one that many people don't know and are surprised to discover:
8) It's actually a truck
Yep, I have had many people come up to me as I'm loading stuff and exclaim in surprise that there was actually a truck bed beneath the tonneau.
Yep. Here's my favorite one:

I was talking to a 50's something woman in the parking lot who was checking out my Cybertruck and asking questions. After a couple of minutes, she asked, "Why do you keep calling it a truck? I mean, what is it, specifically, that makes it a truck?" She seemed really skeptical, so I walked back and pushed the tonneau button. It made that wonderful "clickity-clack" sound as it opened and I dropped the tailgate as she peered into the bed and exclaimed, "Oh, my, it REALLY IS a truck". Then she seemed embarrassed that she ever doubted it and kept saying things like "I didn't know it had a truck bed, I can see now that it really is a truck, yes, it's a truck."

I would buy FSD before Tesla increases the price. Subscriptions are for people who like paying more as it's perfected.

Agreed. Just like letting people know "Yes, I love this truck".
