Should Tesla only allow electric vehicles at their factories/facilities?

I like to think in a 'first principles' sort of way.

Whether a car is made by a company with headquarters in Europe, Asia or N. America is a superficial quality - the actual place of manufacture could be anywhere. GM and Ford make cars in China, Honda and Toyota make cars in Europe and the US, etc. They are just cars and it shouldn't matter where they park in terms of the marque.

However, EV's can be charged by rooftop solar during the day and ICE cars emit toxic fumes as they cruise by pedestrians. It makes logical sense to keep the toxic fumes away from buildings wand the humans coming/going and put them in the back of the lot where the human density is lower. And no need to run charger connections to the far reaches of the lot when they can be centralized close to the building.

It literally has nothing to do with the brand of the car or where it was made.

There is a cost to society of ICE emissions in terms of asthma, COPD, cancer, etc. (my private health insurance has astronomical monthly premiums because it is not subsidized by taxpayers or my employer). It makes a lot of sense for society to offer incentives for people to drive cars with fewer hidden burdens to everyone else and to minimize those health impacts by reducing exposure to the most concentrated emissions, the ones closest to the tailpipe.

If we include the overall costs of excessive greenhouse emissions it makes even more sense to offer people perks to minimize their contributions to global warming by driving electric. Even a blue-collar worker can appreciate the time saved by not having to walk all the way across a large parking lot.

None of this is 'bullshit', it's what an intelligent and civilized society does to increase our collective standard of living by minimizing the negative health impacts our activities have on everyone.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Hopefully, 2021 is even better than 2020! OK, I admit it, that's a pretty low bar!

I'm confident Tesla would never require employees to buy an EV! That's ridiculous!

Tesla does provide employee parking for ICE and EV's as well as EV charging. They don't provide on-site gas stations and never will. There is nothing wrong with locating the EV parking and charging close to the building/power feed. That's just common sense. And this has the side benefit of reducing the toxic gases inhaled by employees as they walk through the parking lot. Win/win.

Any business plan that involves forced buying of product is in the end a losing plan. If forced, some will not be able to comply, some will go to competing products to avoid being forced, some will sabotage in retaliation, and others will build better competitive products that provide choice.

In the end, if you have to force people to buy in order to be successful, you will not be successful for very long.

Much better to provide a free choice that is so enticing on its own so that flocks of people will want to choose your product over the competition.

They built a bridge at Fremont so employees could use BART, anyhow. They're sortof hobbled that the factory entrance faced the freeway and not the town, tho, so it's a weird walk.

They've talked about using shuttles, which is okay, but it's easy to miss a connection.

Should Tesla make this a policy with some exceptions/exemptions?

If Elon truly wants to make good on his goals for getting rid of ICE vehicles should Tesla not help in any way possible?

Such as leasing out Tesla cars to employees at a discount over a 2-4 yr period then releasing those cars for resale?

Ahhhh, this is too easy and doesnt fit the "longterm agenda".

Not sure how you would have an 'electronic free' EV. Even at its most simple, there are 'electronics' in an EV.



Not alot of people want to drive that, tho.
