Can order Ford F-150/250 with option for front seats that can recline to a lay-flat bed.
Ever been stuck on the work site with nothing but time on your hands? Why not turn your first row of seats into a comfortable-ish bed.
Why get a hotel, when you can just sleep in your pickup truck?

:ROFLMAO: 2024 CT does not have this feature, correct. I like your recommendations, should probably go with those if you need lay flat in the driver's seat.

I think Breezer is almost ready with their window. They had concerns from liability because you know someone will take the window out of the panel, then try to go through it and then have the vault cover close on them. ?‍♂

Okay, yes, some planes and trains have them. (Have you ever priced the ticket of one of them in an airplane, often well into 4 figures, I believe I've seen 5)

Tesla has a much more elegant version of fold flat seats that I don't see the planes, or trains, or the F-150 having, it's called the Cybertent.

But they aren't in the cab and they won't be, for years, if ever.

Japan/Asia based budget airline ZipAir had the option.

I don't see why the pricing of airline tickets is relevant. Everything in airline is more expense than automotive grade. Even the bolts that hold the seat to the floor are probably several times more expensive than automotive bolts because jet airliners even normal slow speeds for landing are 120-180mph and seat hardware designed to stay intact in crashes.

----------

How Safe is Modern Aircraft Seating?
The seats go through crash testing in a facility. Seats must withstand a force of 16Gs, the level of force applied to the occupant if an aircraft stops suddenly. Crash tests involve running the seats on a sled to test the seatbelts, injury protection, and overall integrity in a crash.

Most workers or bosses that are taking naps or overnight sleep in their truck did not and will not use an external tent. If these people wanted to use a tent there were already plenty of tent options. Cybertent doesn't change that.

Cybertent is not able to benefit from climate available in cabin. In many parts of USA, climate control is important even in tent.

Nothing requires Tesla to make lay-flat recline seats. It would be nice if Tesla did have as an option but if Tesla didn't an aftermarket seat company might make one compatible to Cybertruck.

The most popular full-size pickup in the world, Ford F series (150/250/350 including Lightning EV) have option for lay-flat recline seats ( Max Recline) and option price is reasonable $350 for upgrade from standard seat.

The tonneau needs to already be safe if someone or something gets stuck in the vault. It's not like this isn't a problem it doesn't already have.

Point on airplane seats, they are beyond the cost of 95% of the flying customers. Lots of people manage without them.

If you are taking a nap in the truck, the seats let back far enough. Some people actually like to sleep sitting up.

There are options for the Cybertent to benefit from cabin cooling or just use another source.

Ford puts diesel engines in their trucks. Does that mean that Tesla should do so as well?

Looks like front seat backs that could recline back until flush with rear seat bottom ( Refresh Mode ) was a standard feature available in 2000s (last year 2008) Honda Fit subcompact car & Honda Fit Sport.
The headrests need to be taken off the front seats in order to allow the front seat back to recline back all the way.

The MSRP of 2008 Honda Fit was $13,950 ( 20,367 in inflated 2024 dollars).

2002-2006 Honda Element compact SUV had ALL seats recline back flat mode to create a double size bed.

the Fit's front seats can recline flush with the rear seats to create a long, flat surface perfect for relaxing when the vehicle is parked ( Refresh Mode ).

I think he means the tonneau cover closing with a body part in the window opening. It will retract if it hits an obstacle, but the force is quite hard to overcome being blocked my snow and ice.

But that's literally an exposed space already. What if something (or someone, like the kid with the iPad) was in the vault when it changes position?

Could happen, of course, but there's more time to react in the vault. The tonneau will retract if it hits something solid. A child's arm extended through the open rear window could be injured pretty seriously if the tonneau suddenly closed on it.

Yeah, but the point stands that it needs to deal with this, with or without the window.

Having a load fall against the window and get stuck in the tonneau would be a pain.
