Hey,

I’m looking to purchase a Cybertruck equipped as follows: Trim – Cyberbeast, Cyber Wheels, and Tactical Grey Décor
I usually hold onto a vehicle up to 2 years and 90% of my driving is within 100-mile radius.

FSD:
Based on some previous post, seems like all Cybertrucks are equipped with FSD. In addition, a monthly subscription is available.
  • Any value of paying upfront $8k versus the monthly subscription? Seems like an awful lot if I only hold onto a vehicle for 2 years.
  • If I do purchase FSD, is it transferable to the next owner?

Tax Credit:
Based on what I’ve read, the 2025 Cyberbeast does not qualify (price is above $80k). In addition, the household income is capped at $300k.
  • I have 2 strikes on me here and I don’t qualify. Please let me know if there’s any exceptions that I’m unaware of.

Without the tax credit, I may just end up purchasing a used 2024 Cyberbeast (later build date) or something Tesla has listed as a demo.

Thanks

All Teslas include the hardware, only Foundation Series included the FSD option package.

People have gone the lease route with early (read immediate) buyout to get the benefit of part of the commercial credit.

The FSD monthly subscription ($99/month) makes more sense unless you plan to keep the car more than 7 years (which you're not).

I'm a long time truck owner (My current Beast is my 7th and last truck) all 4x4s since 1979, and only tend to do long trips (3-4 hours) every once in a while, where FSD comes in handy, especially at night, or sneaking fast food while driving. Last weekend I did a 4 hour trip and let my FSD drive me just about all the way home, and I'm a control freak that has to drive myself. So the FSD convenience is very welcome.........

If you only keep your cars for two years, don’t buy FSD. Do the monthly subscription.

Can it be transferred to another Tesla, depends on when Tesla offers it. They do it as a promo to sell vehicles. I think they’ve offered FSD transfer only a handful of times.

Most recent was last year from Oct - Dec, which is what got me to buy the CT. Transferred FSD from my 2020 Y.

At the current pricing FSD makes no sense.
Almost no one keeps a vehicle for 7 years anymore.
$8,000 invested would pay for FSD and you would keep the principle.
Plus if the vehicle gets totaled that FSD purchase $ is GONE.

That is not a true statement. If you buy it for $8,000 it stays with the car for the life of the car. If you lease FSD for $99 per month, that is just the current rate and it is likely to increase dramatically over the years as FSD advances or becomes unsupervised.

When have they increased the price of that in the past? I don't think they've ever increased Premium Connectivity as well. FSD advancements will require better hardware in the future, if you buy FSD now that's a sunk cost when you could upgrade the car in a few years to get HW5/HW6.

Thanks for the response. I stopped by the Tesla showroom today. The floor manager did reiterate that FSD stays with the vehicle.

Just do monthly. You’ll rarely use it as this is a great driving vehicle. When you trade in or sale you won’t get anywhere near your $8k back for FSD. Even Tesla doesn’t value it as much in their trade in.
