Ive been looking at the various spare tire storage methods and none of them seem very effective to me. The tire still takes up too much room. I dont regularly tote 4x8 sheets around so its not that important to raise the tire above the truck bed floor for me anyway.

How about this: What if one deflated the spare tire and set it upright against the front wall of the bed next to the rear window. You could mount the tire upright there somehow, bolts, straps, whatever. Not laying flat would save some 36 in of space but stowing upright would take up that much room it seems. A can of compressed air to inflate the tire quickly might be handy here. I checked with Grok, this seems feasible as far as dimentions go. Any ideas on this?

What’s a benefit to toting a deflated tire?
You inflate it when needed. Older porsches have this in the frunk. It's a narrow inflatable spare for when you get a flat that can't be fixed with a plug or if you damage the rim. I've also thought about having a narrow pizza cutter spare just to get you out of trouble if needed. It would take up half the space. And if it could be collapsible like the porsche one, it wouldn't be much hassle to haul around.

Yes, except the CyberTruck tires are massive, at 35" in diameter, and weigh in at about #90.
Deflating them, would not do much of anything to lower that weight, and would likely cause the bead that seals the tire to the wheel to fail/leak. If you don't have the space for the spare, just call Tesla Roadside service, they will tow you to a service center to repair/replace the tire.

Agree with the point above, Tesla roadside exists for this reason. If you’re going offrosding or something tire-intensive, throw a spare in the bed.

This isn't a one size fits all, right or wrong debate. Just a discussion on a possible alternative to carrying an inflated full size spare in the bed. I carry plugs, patches & a compressor at all times but might be tempted by an inflatable pizza cutter if it was a viable option. The Porsche one has saved me a few times over the years.. once in the middle of nowhere on a Sunday evening with no cell service!

Standard tires are not meant to have their sidewalls bent over sharply. They react by cracking over time.

That was the one thing I was worried about, cracking.

That tire is a show-er not a grow-er. I don't think deflating it will allow much shrinkage.
Yep, deflating will not make it smaller. If you were able to compress it enough to make a noticeable difference, you'd be damaging the tire for sure.

CybertruckCo rear bumper has a swing-away tire carrier.

(I bought one and like it.)
