Erm, I understood the battery/body junction to be more of a sealant than structural. It's not like there's aren't bolts holding them together as well.
It is a unibody car which means the body is structural. It is a structural pack…

I’m pretty sure in the Munro year down they suggested the adhesive was structural. They’d have needed a lot more bolts to make a structural connection.

The HV pack can be removed from the body without torches and prybars, unlike the castings. But now we're just quibbling over the meaning of the word "structural".

Structural really only means load bearing or transferring.
There are many structural adhesives. Bonding usually requires bare metal and or a preparation.

The only "non-structural" adhesive I'm aware of is that worthless crap they put on Post-It Notes

Post meet post.

I already addressed why I don't think they will use masking on structural frame members. My post you responded to was in direct response to a post suggesting they might glue directly to painted steel. That's not gonna happen either.

They attach the painted Model Y body to the structural battery pack with structural adhesives.

This isn’t black arts. They already do it on their most cost effective production line.
This is apples to oranges. the Model Y body is already made from regular steel and needs to be painted in a paint shop anyway. Adding regular painted steel to a stainless steel exoskeleton would be an odd decision. And a structural battery is different from a structural steel part of the body because a battery cannot carry high loads like a structural steel member can. It's mostly to support the battery.

I could be wrong, but I doubt it and time will tell. The stamped portions of the Cybertruck exoskeleton will be thinner than the cold-rolled flat portions and will be a minor component by weight and cost of the structure so it makes sense to just make the stamped components from stainless and simply welding them on rather than going to all the extra time and expense of masking and painting regular steel.

Don’t want to get anyone excited here. But those boxes on the post from @greggertruck are familiar.

Very similar to the box in this older image From an earlier GP delivery.

Tesla Cybertruck Stainless steel rolls spotted during delivery to Giga Texas today (9/20/22) ? 1666140851841

Again… don’t get excited… but I haven‘t seen a ton of boxes with that color lid.

Obviously these aren’t the main box, but there are a lot of supporting gear on a Gigapress shipment. For example this other image from a previous IDRA shipment.

No logos on @greggertruck photo, but IDRA very consistently uses this color. (Also older image)

Tegtmeyer has said those are AIDA stamping machine boxes, but if they WANT to hide it, that'd be a great way to do so.
