Starlink Mini mounting options (Poll)

So i've got a Starlink mini I am trying to figure out how/where to mount. I tried some cheap suction cupped brackets on the interior roof glass, but the first hot day and it just crapped out and fell onto the rear seat. Looking for ideas on where to put it. Would another, more expensive option work on the roof glass inside? What about outside? Kind of like my dash clean, but I've seen cases to make it look better. Just looking for some genuine user feedback and experiences.

I use the battery pack and qr mount described here. I have magnetic weighted base and a magnetic camera mount. I use a dark colored silicone cover to stop reflections, and if you put it in the passenger side corner of the dash just under the windshield the view of the road is unobstructed.

I went with a custom install on the dash that's low profile. You can find the thread with a quick search. Here's a couple of photos. Super happy with this set up and it's rock solid. Also chose this because I have a rooftop tent so installing to the inner glass wasn't an option.

I use a suction cup mount above the rear center seat. I might get a bed cap and mount it externally in the future, but this works great.

I printed this and used the recommended suction cups. Very impressed the way the suction cups hold.

edit: I have ceramic tint on my roof glass. The Starlink does work through the tint.

Thanks for sharing that. I didn't even think about using a battery pack. That seems like it could be a good solution as it makes it even more portable without having to run the power cable through the cab.

What is attached at the bottom to hold it in? Is it like a tripod base or something? Are you worried about scratching the tonneau from vibrations?

Cannot really answer this survey because I use multiple ways that are not described in the survey answer options (which should allow you to select multiple options IMHO)

1 - toss it on the dash, angle is perfect under the glass
2 - mount it to MARS mounting bracket on the MARS AG bars
3 - mount to tripod with battery for trips away from civilization

Well, I have one big piece of advice... IF you decide to put it on your dash, get a BLACK cover for it! With the WHITE color it's just a huge reflection on your view out the windshield... The black color will make it 'blend in' better...

I have mine mounted to our Urander Bed Rack 'roof' on the front T-Rail crossbar... Currently using power from the CTs bed, but I plan on putting in a switch of some kind to run it off of the 48V on the roof (have the light bar plugged in currently)...

It’s not attached to anything other than the little fold out stand which in this case is pointed downward and serves to hold the Starlink in place being squeezed between the tailgate and the tonneau cover. It’s so low effort and more than secure enough for me to feel comfortable driving reasonable Distances at the right speed for the surface. For example I’ve driven all around Death Valley on the paved roads with it wedged in like this without issue or concern.

If you go like this off-road you’re gonna get a lot of dust in your bed so that might not be useful but scouting locations at Lake Mead or like I said Death Valley (where there’s no signal and you just wanna be connected for maps or something like that) I find it to be quick dirty no fuss no mess and I have no fear that it’s going to come be an issue.

The image is a little bit confusing (sorry about that) the light strip from the bed almost looks like there’s some sort of attachment on the Starlink, but that’s just an illusion. Just sinch-up the tonneau manually and you’re good to go. No concern about scratching due to vibration it really holds it incredibly solidly. But, I understand not everybody is gonna be comfortable with the perceived risk here. I just don’t like any of the bolt on attachments or suction cup situations they seem to be way more trouble than they’re worth for me.

So, if I’m not doing this I’m like some of the other others who will just lay it right on the dashboard.

I think that somebody who would otherwise like my solution that was uncomfortable with the security of the set up could attach an extension or something like that to the bracket on the back to give it a little bit more weight or a longer piece of the material to extend into the bed but I personally find it completely unnecessary.
