I want to trust the navigation. But I have serious range anxiety. I need to get out and practice more. I need to go from Moab to Durango. I’m at 75% and the app says I will get in Durango with 16%. So I generally go to the SC and hit 100% (I’m level 1 in Moab and it’s like poking your eyeballs out to charge). That gets me to Durango with around 33% which gives me comfort wiggle room. Am I playing with fire rolling in with their estimated 16%? It seems that going through mountain passes has had it off by as much as 6-10% depending on weather and my being a lead foot or not. I fear to try it because I have no real chargers in between…maybe a level 2 here or there which could make a 2.5 hour trip into a 4-5 hour trip.

Anyone have long experience about trusting the app and has it ever gotten you into a panic looking for a charge?

Over time you will learn how much to trust the estimate. I shoot for 15% during the spring, summer, and fall, and 20% or more depending on weather during the winter. I have a Model 3 and have traveled all over the U.S.

Too bad the app doesn’t account for jackasses

Do you man your Cybertruck which appears to be on the wrong side of the Superchargers? i.e. signs facing the other direction?

If you allow the navigation on your truck to plan the charging stops it will plan for about 30-45 minutes of charging per session. It will typically charge to about 70-80% and you will run it down to about 20%. Charging speeds slow way down after 80-85%. I just did 1300 miles from Oregon to San Diego and these were my typical numbers if I let the app do its thing. You can of course choose to charge for longer (the app will notify you when you have sufficient charge to continue your planned trip) and this will allow for less frequent charging stops. In the end total time spent charging will be comparable if you charge according to the app vs charging longer for fewer stops. On my trip I would occasionally charge for longer up to 95% if I knew I was going to be at that location for longer getting lunch or something. When I got back to the truck it would usually update the charging stops if I charged longer but sometimes it wouldn’t so I would typically end the navigation and input my destination again so that it would recalculate the stops appropriately.
My experience with model Y is that actual hi way driving at 75 mph the charge percentage at the next charger will increasingly diminish and it can get close to zero instead of 20 percent. this will necessitate dropping the speed down to 60 - 65 mph.

Well I guess I can add you to that jackass list lol. No I am not on the “ wrong side” just the other side since at the time the connector would not reach my charge port due the placement on the truck and the other cars that were there.

Sorry I did not snap a “ before “ pic of the situation.

And that's pretty much exactly what we are talking about. You don't run it down to only 20%, you go past there.
Want to see a vehicle charge as fast as it can? You aren't going to do that at 20% SoC.

Going from 0% to 20% at a 250kW Supercharger takes less than 5 minutes.
How long does it take to go from 60% to 80%? 15 minutes?

So a closer look indicates that you are on the wrong side and you are straddling a line.

Yep, you didn't block a parking space.
