I went camping with a RTT set up and brought a fold up step stool to get in and our of the bed during the day. the sit on the tailgate and rotate isnt always the best approach especially if you need to go in and our several time in a short period. I do like the harbor freight ladder, I wish there was a slightly better and nicer solution

I just did a 2 month 10k mile road trip.
this was my most used CT accessory.
It folds flat and was also ideal for reaching over the side of truck bad to grab or stow things.

*Truck bed

especially getting things in and out of the cooler placed at the front of the packed full truck bed far away from the tailgate.

So why this specific folding stool? There has been some contention on here if memory serves as to which is the best option.

It was the tallest of 3 sizes of that brand at the Ross (discount store) my gf dragged me to. It was also had some name brand (black & decker) that I'm sure just white labeled a stool, but they have a reputation to protect and therefore less likely to cut corners.
Of importance, the black & decker stools had the best rubber grip on the top, of the selection of stools in the store. The rubber of some of the other stools was not slightly raised up like this B&D stool.
It didn't hurt that it was gray and matched my unwrapped CT, but that was coincidence.
edit: tbf I didnt use it to get onto the back tailgate much, I mostly used it for reaching over the sides of the truck bed to grab things out of the bed, pelican storage boxes and ice box in the bed. If I were using exclusively for tailgate access, I probably would have not have chosen the tallest of the 3 size B&D stools at the store.

No it's not even in the running as a reasonable approach to get in a truck. I think I've only seen this a couple of times in my entire life (and it was always a girl wearing a skirt).

Sitting on the tailgate and rotating leaves a person in a very awkward position if the goal is to end up standing.

I'm having trouble imaging why some people seem so resistant to stepping on the corner of the bumper and pulling themselves up with their arm.

Are you allowed to step on the tailgate/put weight on it? I couldn't find a definitive answer online on the weight tolerance for that particular area.
There's a forum post talking about it here, and maybe you could find it mentioned somewhere in the service manual.

This has got to be one of the better innovations to come along for trucks. My brother owns a Chevy truck and this built in step is ideal and something I wish I had on the CT.

Let's be honest, really honest. It's not easy getting into the back of the CT. It's kind of clunky.

I'm very athletic and fit and don't have T-rex anything, and I don't enjoy getting into the bed.

Before Chevy started doing these bumper steps or having integrated tailgate ladders I'd say sure, carry around a little folding ladder. But it's been done by the other manufacturers so simply saying "sit on your butt and spin around" or "just workout more you lazy POS" is a cop out.

Some just want to make suggestions for improvement and see if there's been a good workaround. That's why I'm here.

Would love to see an aftermarket bumper company design a built in step for the CT

Ramp handy for spare tire loading, mowers etc. I just put some foam on where it mates up to the tail gate to cover impacts. One ramp is ~750lb max load, folds and like $138 for the set at home depot.
