Leave sentry mode on anytime your truck is exposed to the public and carry a gun
absolutely. That why I have a 2 t drive.

Importantly, a potential consequence of this arson being classified as “terrorism” is that all of the poor people whose cars have now been torched, may not be covered under their insurance policies.

Words have meaning and consequences.

If my insurance didn’t cover that I’d drop them instantly.

You probably better check, most do not cover “acts of terrorism.”

They were in the care of the Service Center, I'd hope my insurance wouldn't be involved and it would all be on Tesla. If my truck was returned with a dent (somehow) on the door, or cut in the seat, I'd be demanding they fix it, I may have to prove it didn't have it before hand.

If it was a smoldering pile and they had video of it being destroyed while they were in charge of it, it clearly happened while there. I didn't drop off a pile of molten rubble. They'd better give me a new one. I'm not making a co-pay. I keep it in my garage, not out in the open where people are shooting and fire bombing vehicles. :D

Well then let’s just keep calling these things simple state level arson offenses
Yeah, that’s why the police department is calling it arson, “targeted attack” and the FBI are using phrases like hallmarks of terrorism.

People like to throw terms around for political reasons and I would like you guys to stop it. We’ve gotta get away from this game theory bullshit where our side needs to win every damn point so that we vent our spleen and feel victorious by owning the other side!

We’re all gonna lose!

Tesla isn’t going to pay you any money (their insurance company would) and the duty of a custodian is to exercise reasonable care. Terrorism, like an act of God is outside the bounds of things that someone who has custody of your property would be expected to protect it from.

Capiche?

The chances are highly likely that Tesla’s insurance policy would also exclude acts of terrorism- because again, most do.

If this gets classified as terrorism, the only person anybody’s going to get money from is the terrorists, and good luck with that!

What's reasonable care? Are you a Toyota dealer in a quiet town with no enemies? Then they likely took reasonable care.

Are you a highly targeted company with a rash of recent arsons, vandalisms, and gunfire at your properties? I would question if their measures rose to the level of "reasonable care" for the climate they're in. Nevada law requires measures a "prudent business" would take to protect property, there's a case to be made that knowing the elevated threat level, they didn't provide that level of protection. I would totally hire you to make that case for me.

But, I'm willing to bet Tesla will get insurance to cover, or give out of pocket "good will" replacements for all the vehicles involved. Last thing they need is a bunch of customers going public saying they're suing Tesla because Tesla told them, "good luck with your insurance!". How many would feel unsafe bringing their Tesla in for service or repairs after that, with what, one or two service center attacks a week now?

Let’s be real here, it’s not arson, it’s an act of terrorism. It’s what all of the Tesla related vandalism, arson, keying, etc is at this point. Terrorizing civilians associated with a business to further their political and social aims. The justice system should approach these events as such.

As defined by the FBI: Violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature
Except you have no evidence this was committed by an organized group or individuals to further political aims. Because it very evidently isn’t. This is nitwit TikTok brain. The base outcome of an uncaring algorithm. Branding nitwit kids who do things you don’t like as ”domestic terrorists” feels an awful like authoritarianism. This is way too stupid to be terrorism. Is just a new type of social contagion. Bland middle class spoiled children who have no critical thinking skills because they have never needed them. Terror is an act of desperation. This is mindless boredom and social isolation. Terrorism. Funny. Americans are so ridiculously spoiled.

The cars that are sitting here are waiting to be repaired in the collision center that is in the building behind. This is not an SC.

It’s located in a newer area of town not particularly unsafe. There are single-family homes all around this solidly middle class area.

My wife’s prior daily (model Y) has been there for days after a collision - sitting outside like this. Every owner with a car there has already been unlucky, now this.

Nobody is going to like living in the dystopian hell-scape that we’re headed toward.

You think it’s bad now; wait ‘til you see the practically feral kids that are making their way through middle school as we speak.

We will regret removing civics, arts, sports and critical thinking from our schools.

Machiavellians wanted a dumb docile group of idiots they could control; what they’re gonna get is comeuppance in the form of witless, heartless, feral, sociopaths with nothing to lose.
I came across an article on Hannah Arendt lately. In paraphrased summary it states, “The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the convinced Communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction, in other words, the reality of experience, and the distinction between true and false ... people for whom those distinctions no longer exist.”

Arendt describes those that fall pray to these outcomes as an “unorganized mass” of “mostly furious individuals” with nothing in common except for their contempt for the present order. She calls this “negative solidarity” and it’s the raw material of totalitarianism, because it’s a world without connection and friendship, where the only basis of collective action is some kind of awful combination of anger and desperation. Sadly, that description fits almost everyone at present.

This is just plain wrong and when they are caught in LV or doing it somewhere else they should be arrested and prosecution to the full extent allowed. I am not a CT owner or even a Telsa owner but I do know right from wrong and this is just plain wrong and not right. I really feel for you owners as at some point someone will get hurt defending or maybe shot at. Again this to 100% totally wrong and be safe everyone. :) BTW that is my 2024 CyberMavrick XLT

You betcha. But if you can’t handle benign accurate adjectives like “layman” you’re gonna have a rough ride through life, Bud. Yikes!
Sigh... wouldn't worry about this guy. This dude has probably blocked more than half the users here due to not being able to handle some push back.
