I think the biggest production change would be to ditch the very expensive stainless steel and go to high strength steel and paint.

Not just 'want', require. Steel is crap. I was raised in Michigan and watched, year after year after year cars rusting out in 2 seasons. I live in California now but within a stones throw of the ocean and cars rust here as well. Everything does. So 3mm stainless was like, mindblowing, and an immediate interest for me. So if that goes I go, not that anyone here would mind someone leaving the long list for a CT.
