I think I figured out why? I just had mine sitting for a couple months but trying to charge and turn it on now, it will not work. Maybe same issue as others,

I had previously purchased TWO of these off eBay not thinking that they would be restocked in the Tesla Shop.

Both lanterns were brand new, sealed, and never used.

BOTH of those lanterns were completely broke out of the box and I had to return them to the seller.

Shortly later they were restocked on the Tesla Shop so I bought a third one and am awaiting shipping. So to answer the question, they definitely have a lot of defective lanterns out there that I hope they fully sort out before they ship me my third (and final) one.
