I will buy this in a heartbeat if they offer it to us. I totally agree about the red headed step child feeling, I feel left out sometimes and punished for being an early adopter.Just figured I’d make folks aware of THIS POST by Teslarati. I know there’s a lot of people who want unlimited supercharging. I’d totally be on board for that price, but yet again Tesla seems to have forgotten about their red headed stepchild.
At $2K absolutely. But it might be more for us. The Beast was $100K before Luxe, I paid $108 for mine with FSD, but it’s $115K now with Luxe. They might want $7K from CT owners. Maybe because it’s a great road tripper and we would be sucking some serious kWhs out of superchargers, maybe because our windshields cost twice as much, who knows. But I’d brace myself for a $7K offer, if we ever see one at all. Personally, I’m not sure if I’d be in at the price or not. I like doing my own maintenance, I have Starlink, and just not sure if I’ll ever hit $7K in supercharging fees. I still have another 11 years minimum to work before I get to road trip all the time lolI will buy this in a heartbeat if they offer it to us. I think it would have to be somewhat of a value as an add on if they offer it. From what I understand an X or S with luxe was 10k more and they are only asking 2k. So maybe well get a break for once - as you said, if they even offer it at all to us, which is have a feeling they wont. They really should tho. I have a FS Beast, so you can add on an additional 20k for mine..At $2K absolutely. But it might be more for us. Yeah they should account for the fact you already paid the premium for lifetime connectivity (I didn’t). It’s mainly about the supercharging. I think they should always offer that on any car for like $5K or somewhere in that neighborhood. They’d probably make more profit honestly and it gives owners peace of mind.I think it would have to be somewhat of a value as an add on if they offer it. Yeah, obviously everyone’s different. It wouldn’t be worth too terribly much to me as I charge at home and, even if it was free, wouldn’t hang out at a supercharger for 30 mins every night. It would be worth significantly more if I was retired and just wanted to explore the world.Unless the math shows I will significantly save on the cost of home charging over the life of the truck, there would be no reason to pay upfront.
What if you need to get rid of the vehicle for some reason (accident, get a Roadster, Optimus carries me everywhere, etc.), that's money you never get back.
Unless you (a) have no charging at home or (b) live on the road, it doesn't seem like you'd get your cost back. Even if you figured out you get the cost back in 4 years, is it worth being out of the funds upfront for a benefit of an undetermined amount of time in 4 years? To then save a few hundred dollars after taking on a risk?
They should definitely call it the retirement package, that's where things get real compelling. I've already been to all 50 states, free supercharging in retirement could give me an excuse to go to every county.Yeah, obviously everyone’s different. Agreed.. even at 5k I think id buy it, eventhough Id never use 5k worth of charging.Yeah they should account for the fact you already paid the premium for lifetime connectivity (I didn’t). I mostly charge at home as well.. but if they offered the same deal for 2k, to never have to worry about "gas" for the rest of my life id jump on it. If I use it, I use it, if not then they make out. But it might make me more inclined to take road trips or do things I might not or take the ice car for. Could I just pay as I go, sure, but There's some value in just not having to worry about it anymore, or the price this station charges, on or off peak hours.. etc. Its personal preference and a financial decision. For me I've made my decision.Yeah, obviously everyone’s different. If they charge us the same as the offer for the S and X then yes. To me it is worth it. People spend lots of money on "what-ifs". Any insurance, car, medical, doomsday bunkers - you get the point.Unless the math shows I will significantly save on the cost of home charging over the life of the truck, there would be no reason to pay upfront.

The downside in your alternative scenarios does not match the downside in the charging scenario. Unless we fear AI computing is going to mess up supply in the grid...If they charge us the same as the offer for the S and X then yes. To me it is worth it. People spend lots of money on "what-ifs". No i wasnt referring to an apocalypse scenario where the grid goes down.. superchargers would too I think in that case. I was more saying of paying for it now as a what-if, meaning if I will ever use 2k worth of charging, not having to even think about peak charging prices, congestion pricing, etc.The downside in your alternative scenarios does not match the downside in the charging scenario. I don’t have charging at home and I am on the road a lot. It took me 8 years and 136k miles to rack up supercharging to about $14k with my ~280Wh/mi 17MS. So, the argument is solid that you pose.Unless the math shows I will significantly save on the cost of home charging over the life of the truck, there would be no reason to pay upfront.
